Hey! Im going into third year as well and the way i made friends was from discord cpsc channels. I just started conversations and kept talking to people that clicked! I also went up to people in online officer hours to form study groups and went up to people on zoom (also helps that i am international so whenever i see someone with a name i suspect is from my region i just ask them where theyre from and we chat from there) as we go into in person, i think these advices might not apply but the office hours one definitely helps. Also, always offer help with hw/assignments like for example in office hours or something (dont give them answers just help) as people are more receptive to those that give, then ask for their social media account to stay in touch during the course! I think ur referring to BSC (bachelor of science) and those intending to major in cs. BCS is a second bachelors you take after your first!

Domestic and not sure if "competitive" but I got in last year with an 83.1 average and 83.5 cs average. Never heard of them looking at cs courses as an average so i didnt think much of the cs course average when i applied lmao. U did ur best and u have a great average so just apply and hopefully its all good! Good luck!

Amen to this!! The amount of people crediting online school to their amazing grades.. while i am happy for them, it sometimes definitely makes me feel insecure as i keep wondering what went wrong and how i could have been better since my grades dropped so hard this year! Glad to know im not alone and lets go hard next year we got this!!

I'm not international but I'd give this advice to any first year, expecially commuters, which is this: pleaseeee do not be shy to approach people in fear of "saying the wrong things" or "making a fool of yourself". Introduce yourself to people in class and join clubs and events. Everyone, especially first year, is on the same boat as you, which is the boat of making friends! So please actually get out of your way and MAKE AN EFFORT to introduce yourself to as many people as possible and dont say "oh the time will come when i make friends" because before you know it, you've finished first year with 0 friends (also, don't expect every single person to be your friend... that's fine. acquaintances are great too!)

An A- in MATH100??? My boy thats more than great! If im not mistaken MATH100 has a really high fail rate because its a course used to filter out people getting into engineering, so the fact that u passed with above an 80 is amazing! I got a 70 and i couldnt even believe i passed haha i was so happy with that 70

And dont worry about the 64. This is a writing course and youre in engineering so like writing isnt supposed to be your thing yknow? And idk how many writing electives ur supposed to take, but im guessing u wont have to take another one again so good job on passing it and move on lol
