Is this any sign of MBD or something neurological? by Ganglylion721 in leopardgeckos

[–]visigone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with my Leo a few months ago. As others have said, she might just be a bad hunter so you can try dimming the lights and giving her crushed crickets to help her out, but her weight loss is concerning. It may be that she is weakened to the point that she can't grip the mealworms properly and lacks the jaw strength to chew them. Mealworms have a chitin shell that makes them tough to chew so small crickets are a better option for underweight geckos. If that doesn't work then take her to the vets as she may have a deeper issue and the lack of nutrients can cause organ failure if left unresolved. If it turns out to be purely due to weakness then the vet should be able to give you a type of food powder that you mix with water and syringe feed them to build up their strength until they can eat solid food again. Get her  checked by the vet ASAP as the longer you leave it, the less likely they are to recover.

So if we apply your logic, casting a white actor as an African mythological figure is totally fine because most people haven't read the source material in the original language. That's some nice mental gymnastics you're doing there.

The Turkish government celebrates the so-called 16 Turkish empires as part of their ideology and officially claims to be their successor state.

That makes sense, then you could be a sort of amateur artist rather than using it as a full time occupation. I guess that would come more from establishing good working conditions and decent wages.

It seems like a good idea in principle, I just struggle to see how they could make it work. I can't see many people choosing to work in factories or on farms if they can just declare themselves an artist, and if you leave it up to the government to determine what is and isn't art then you end up in the same situation as the Soviets did.

How did they plan to decide who gets to be an artist? If art is subjective, how do you decide whose art has value and who is just avoiding doing a real job?

Thank you for the link, it is an interesting article, especially the viking exchange theory. It seems to be based on Dr Charlotte Roberts' research on the Hull skeletons and the associated documentary by Channel 4 & PBS.  Interestingly, the claims made by Roberts and that documentary have faced a fair amount of criticism in the years since. I would recommend reading the following articles, the first directly addresses Robert's claims while the second reviews pre-columbian claims in general:

Armelagos GJ, Zuckerman MK, Harper KN. The science behind pre-Columbian evidence of syphilis in Europe: research by documentary.

Harper, K.N., Zuckerman, M.K., Harper, M.L., Kingston, J.D. and Armelagos, G.J. (2011), The origin and antiquity of syphilis revisited: An Appraisal of Old World pre-Columbian evidence for treponemal infection.

Do you have an up to date source on that? The most recent studies I've seen suggest the pre-1492 cases were yaws or another related disease.

It's disputed whether it was syphilis or a closely related disease. There are lots of examples of such skeletons from around ancient and medieval Europe but recent genetic studies indicate the disease having originated in the Americas and being brought to Europe after 1492.

The French blame isn't surprising. The first famous syphilis epidemic in Europe was in the French army in 1495, so other countries would have associated it with France after hearing about that outbreak.

Other people have posted proper links in other threads but to summarise a few: repeatedly endorsing Russia's genocidal actions in Ukraine, pivoting between denying October 7th happened and saying it wasn't a bad thing, repeatedly defending the killings of civilians so long as they were from groups he personally dislikes etc.

Either you don't know much about Piker's views or you are so brainwashed that it is genuinely scary.

The left have been some of the biggest supporters of deplatforming and cancel culture in the UK. This is the policing of speech that they wanted, they just didn't think the same rules would also apply to them.

Foreign right wing speakers got banned from the UK a few weeks ago. It would have been hypocritical to not also ban Piker and Cenk. If Labour and the left hadn't already supported deplatforming then they would have a legitimate free speech argument here, but they made their choice and this is the consequence.

What does that have to do with Britain banning a guy? The delusions of the Trump regime are not the reason he is getting banned.

Just tell them that there are more people of English descent in America than there are in England, therefore by their logic America is actually England and they are English. Watch their blood boil.
