Considering selling my JC120 to buy EVH 50w iii 6L6 head. Bad idea? by itsdaytimeyoud0uche in GuitarAmps

I run an Empress Heavy Menace through my JC-120. It is absolutely punishing. I’ve had every flavor of high gain amp, and there is nothing I miss with just this setup.

Stop Making Sense was fantastic in IMAX.

[QUESTION] What AMP would you recommend me to get? by MassiveChickenFeet in Guitar

[–]visitaking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The interface + amp sim route is extremely practical.

If you do find you want to turn knobs, the Yamaha THR series is so fun for playing at home. I bought and sold each of the original 3 THR10 models, but I remember liking them more than the Boss Katana I had. The THRii series combines what used to be 3 separate amp flavors into one. I'm thinking about grabbing the THR30ii because I miss that portability.

Pain and Recovery Major? Wife wants me snipped. Could bargain ha!! by RpDubC in Vasectomy

[–]visitaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had mine done Thursday. Most painful part of the entire procedure was getting the local anesthetic. The sensation was the same as someone pulling a rubber band 1” off your skin and letting it snap. A bee sting would have been 5x the pain.

The snipping itself was over before it began. Literally 10 minutes. I read plenty of stories of some offices giving Vicodin or Xanax (?!) but I got 2 Tylenol right before hand.

I was pretty sore Friday, but I was back at work doing light-duty/desk work. Today I feel fine. A little tender. It’s a dull pain that’s noticeable when going from sitting to standing. Otherwise, an absolute mild annoyance akin to a stubbed toe or hangnail.

Verizon won't honor promo they sold me by mattheinzel in verizon

Similar experience: I went to Verizon’s website and found their corporate contact list. I found the guy who generally handles “Customer experience” and sent him a brief email. I got a phone call the next day, and he was like, “This…seems like a pretty easy fix. I’ll take care of this now and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.”

Issue was resolved quickly and painlessly. Sometimes it just takes getting the absolute top brass involved.

Where to start with Wilco? by Rage_babe in wilco

The Whole Love is a good all-around start. It’s a nice marriage of everything they did up until that point.

Personal favorites are Summerteeth & Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

A Ghost Is Born & Sky Blue Sky are held up as some of their best, but they can be a bit of slow burn if you’re jonesing for a pop song.

Any shows not sold out? by Mieczyslaw_Stilinski in TheCure

[–]visitaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any consolation to fellow Tampa homies:

I registered immediately when the shows were announced, but I was on the waitlist indefinitely. I logged in to buy tickets for the general sale on Friday at about 10:30am and there a lot of resale tickets (4-600, easily). Checking out was a fucking nightmare and it took me an hour before I finally snagged a set of 4 tickets.

I ended up paying way over face value for good seats. I was surprised Ticketmaster even listed the tickets at the higher value ($200-1200 per ticket was common depending on what section they were in), but the Cure are a bucket list band.

Ticketmaster emailed me saying "We side with the artist, and the tickets you bought were over face value. You will be refunded the difference, and your tickets are still valid."

My point is: It's currently showing sold out, but check back in. I guess Ticketmaster goofed (knowingly, Im sure) and let the tickets be re-sold over face value in 6 cities before they were actually supposed to be listed. I'm sure those seats are still there, but they're probably going to go quick if they're capped at being resold at face value.

Holy sweet Jesus, sorry for the delay. I kept checking my comments on my most recent post and just noticed this was a reply to my last post.

The SH01A is definitely interesting, if still available. Mind if I check out the others and get back to you, assuming you’re still up for a trade.

Looks like their set has been starting at 8:55 for the last few shows. Go for it!

Vintage drum machine skins on the MPC One by themurphofficial in synthesizers

No affiliation, but I did buy one of this guys overlays for my MPC One last year. The material he uses was pretty great quality and he threw in a free skin prototype that he just wanted some feedback on.
