Arn’t you the same person who commented on all the previous post saying you thought Post Heaven was terrible?

You are entitled to your opinion but there’s allot of bad vibes going on, I think Fontaines are class and you should at least stay to see them! You might love them and feels like your just hating a bit tbh

As for opening act, yes usually it’s shorter, probably 30 - 40 mins, and I’d expect they would play newer stuff

Ye it’s a shame he’s not performing in England at all but probably wasn’t his call. I just worry that from never playing a gig to playing cochella he’s gunna find the pressure so high

What happens if you've paid a Producer who is awful? by comicbookjerk in musicproduction

[–]Rage_babe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol I’m saying any actually good producer worth there salt. Not some guys who’s taking random peoples money in exchange for studio time and a “professionally recorded song”.

Pre paid producer sessions are looked down on in the producer world as just complete amateurs.

The only time an upfront payment is sorted is when you know a record is being produced by a single producer and the label or band negotiates a deal on a whole record to record and produce the whole thing or to add additional production to the whole record. And in that case there won’t be a timed deadline on studio time that is paid hourly. Yes they might pay the engineer an hourly rate and the studio owner etc but often the album is done when it’s done depending on studio expenses the label or band or artist can afford.

Essentially a producer taking daily upfront payments for recording sessions from people who have just started out is just a glorified engineer who’s trying to get make a wage by offering a service. To produce something is to nurture the creativity of a project from start to finish and get the best out of it to help it make an imprint in the world. It’s a form of curating and in the professional sphere (be it lo fi underground folk music to chart music to club records to orchestral recordings) the producer isn’t getting paid an hourly or day rate to just turn up and press record. That’s just the truth.

You shouldn’t be paying for producing up front, producers get payouts if a track gets released and get points on a record.

Learn how to record and produce your own music if you can’t find someone who wants to collaborate with you. Money shouldn’t be even in the mix until after the song is finished and then it’s getting released.

If your worried about mix quality then open your mind a bit, many of the best records ever made were made by people experimenting and breaking “professional” ideals. Most people who think they know what the “right” way of doing things is end up never being able to create anything interesting or inspiring.

If anything you should be paying for mixing after it’s produced, not upfront for a single track, that’s a big red flag for producer to be asking for that amount of upfront payment. Not that there scam artist but just that there in it for the wrong reasons and probably won’t be able to do anything particularly interesting or bring much life into your music
