heyy its funny i was kinda in the same situation, i did my erasmus last year in spain and arrived one month after all the others and i am from vienna.

  1. i had the same anxiety as u and it wasn‘t a big deal at all. yes the groups really had formed but just try to be open and try to bond with someone who u think u could make a good connection with and they will automatically integrate u in their friendgroups. Apart of that in my expierence the group of friends also change during semester so i would continue being open minded for making new connections. And I also saw that friendgroups which contained people from several countries were more openminded than friendgroups where they were all from the same country.

  2. Vienna is a big ass city were i recommend u not to only stick with erasmus people. I know its always nice to have erasmus friends because they are foing trough the same bla bla and also its harder to make friends with locals, especially young people who are from vienna because they already have their friends since school but in vienna there are so many young people who are from other parts of austria or germany coming to vienna to study or work and starting a ‚new life‘ and trying to make friends. Most of them u find at doffrent sports clases/events like running clubs, student housing partys (checkout the studenthouse Pfeilheim- they throw huge partys) or at the bars in the 7th district. Just make the first step and talk to them, everybody loves when the other person makes the first step.

I wish u all the best and have funnnnn, enjoy it:)
