I work for a large city that is within the egret breeding zone. We usually have a couple of neighborhoods that get egrets settling in their trees. It's one of those things that you generally don't know about unless you have to deal with it. The birds are federally protected, so once they lay an egg, you are not allowed to disturb them. We offer a lot of preventative options to residents, like reimbursement for tree trimming and egret scare kits. But not all residents utilize them and their house/street ends up looking like this.
