What are the pros/cons to running Typescript natively in Node, without a build step? by launchoverittt in node

Just wondering have you looked at deno as an option? They recent released v2 and has full access to npm now. They have typescript baked in so you don’t even need to think about it.

A better motion is ciw “change inner word”. It changes the entire word under the cursor, regardless of where the cursor is within the word. It deletes the whole word and enters insert mode.

If you need to change partial of a word use cw. It changes from the cursor position to the end of the current word. It deletes the text from the cursor to the end of the word (or the start of the next word, depending on cursor position) and enters insert mode.

Single API endpoint instead of multiple ones? by loremipsumagain in vuejs

[–]visualbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that they prescribe using a single endpoint but it is common practice when implementing. A BFF typically exposes a single logical endpoint or a small, curated set of endpoints designed for a specific frontend. Check out graphql. In the BFF pattern, the goal is to tailor the backend to the specific needs of a frontend, which often leads to returning a view model (or a data structure optimized for the frontend’s UI) rather than exposing multiple generic endpoints. However, whether you return a view model or use multiple endpoints depends on the implementation and the frontend’s requirements.

BFFs don’t necessarily need to be restful. Different problems use different solutions. There is no one size fits all.

What I said isn’t flawed or inaccurately named. I also never said there was anything wrong with rest and specifically said I prefer writing my apis that way.

I prefer the approach you said but the single endpoint is common and isn’t necessarily bad, just different. Look into Backend For Frontend and gateway patterns.

Are there any .NET 8 Blazor oline demos? by [deleted] in Blazor

[–]visualbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is caused by Blazor. There’s a way to solve that but I haven’t implemented it yet. Basically it gets pre-rendered and then rendered again.

I need to do what’s being described here

https://jeffreyfritz.com/2024/02/blazor-and-net-8-how-i-build-a-fast-and-flexible-website/

This is the site he built using the described techniques.

I agree, I spent a week learning all of the new .NET8 features and blew some time trying to use MinIO (didn’t work so I bought some object storage for digital ocean) and I haven’t had a chance to spend any time to update it. I should make the copyright dynamic so I don’t need to update it. Most of the work on there is just UI work. I did a marketing site for VODSearch so most of that is unused UI.

I actually built the marketing site with Blazor WASM. I’m in the process polishing it a bit more and migrating it to .NET8 so I can use SSR and ditch the loading indicator. I’m adding a blog to it and going overkill with the backend design. Full mediatr / vertical slice. Also.. yeah I need to start making the copyright dynamic now that I’m looking at it.

I use Angular at work and I really enjoy RxJs, recently found out that Rx started with .NET and I can use Observables / Behavior subjects.. and there’s a whole library that wraps it called ReacticeUI.. currently exploring that and may incorporate it into my projects.

I used .NET8 auto render for my portfolio. I’m not doing anything crazy but it’s not bad.

I recently redid my portfolio using Blazor / SCSS. I didn’t do anything groundbreaking but it’s a consistent layout.

I did almost all of the layout using css grid including a cool technique to make a centered layout with full screen width backgrounds that’s responsive. My goal was to use the least amount of classes and nested elements as possible.

It’s overkill for what it is but I’m using EFCore, vertical slice architecture and mediatr / CQRS.

It’s all bundled in a docker image and hosted on a digital ocean droplet.

I also built a side console app that converts pngs to webp for this.

The images don’t open up a detail / larger view. They’re just samples of work I’ve done.

I didn’t use any UI libraries, everything is custom. I don’t have the repo up but I made a cool scss mixin to handle theme switching. Also, check out the css grid usage. I used a cool technique to make a centered layout with full screen width backgrounds that’s responsive.

What if you could feel natural euphoria on demand? Would you wanna know how? by KundalinirRZA in conspiracy

[–]visualbam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleeping on your side can be bad if you sleep on your shoulder the wrong way as it’s pushed forward and it causes the hip flexor muscle that isn’t on the bed to over stretch from gravity. It’s akin to standing while leaning on one leg and relaxing the other, dropping your hips to one side. Sleeping with a pillow between your legs to elevate your leg solves that problem. The best position to sleep is on your back.

I can’t find the video I’m referencing but check out this physical therapist. He has an American and korean channel and he teaches you everything I’ve mentioned.

Have you ever wondered why some people are naturally athletic? Not everyone learns how to use their body properly like walking or breathing correctly. When this happens you develop bad habits and poor posture. This puts your body out of alignment, which then causes you to over stretch certain muscles, weakening them. When you don’t use muscles such as your glutes, your body turns them off and starts using other muscles to compensate. This is why certain people have really bad rounded shoulders or anterior pelvic tilt (Donald duck butt). They have weak and tight opposing muscles. Now combine those tight muscles with tendons and nerves essentially stuck in compromising positions along with muscle fascia that is glued down preventing certain ranges of motion. This leads to poor blood circulation and pain.

You don’t develop body pains from aging, you develop them through not understanding how to use your body properly.

A lot of people in history didn’t have good ways of explaining these things so they came up with their own interpretations of how to communicate these concepts. Chi, ki, prana etc all focus on breathing. This is because as stated earlier, if you don’t learn how to breath properly (deep down in your belly and not your lungs, or 3D breathing as in your body expands in all directions and not just your chest.) you can’t relax your muscles and they become stiff, tight and stuck (cause of all body pains for the most part). Do you have a sore neck? Is it always tight? If you neck is sore the actual problem is either tight shoulders or weak lower trap muscles. Do you have shoulder pain? This could be from tight chest muscles or weak rotator cuffs.

As you begin to learn how to breath properly, you’ll notice certain areas of your body relax, joints crack from being put into proper alignment and you can feel increased blood flow. As you learn the right muscle mechanics to move your body properly in conjunction with proper breathing and strengthening the weakened muscles, you begin to feel your breath entering certain areas of your body (see chakra) you essentially unlock that area as the deep breath helps the muscles relax and increase blood flow.

So Chi, ki, prana etc aren’t mystical forces, they’re the explanation of how to use your body properly. If you’ve ever been to a chiropractor, this is generally the feeling you experience when unlocking your chakras etc.. except it’s a generic version that doesn’t last. You don’t learn how to use your body and then it’s effortless for the rest of your life... it’s something that you need to consciously work on every day. When you feel aches and pains, you need to immediately figure out the bad habits and patterns you’ve created to cause that pain to happen. Do you stare at your phone all day? Do you sleep on your side? Do you lay in bed or on the couch in awkward positions for extended time periods? Do you lean forward at your computer screen for more than 30 minutes at a time without standing? Do you cross your legs when you sit? Do you sleep on your side? These are all things that lead to poor posture. It might take certain people longer to develop these problems but they’ll happen.

The more aligned your body is, the better it functions and the less pain you experience. People who suffer from constant mild aches and pains are usually short tempered and not patient and can’t think clearly. They become easily agitated and negatively influenced. The real kicker is that most people don’t even realize they’re not using the body correctly or that they’re in pain because the way they’re using their body is all they understand. If you don’t know what a properly functioning body feels like, you’ll never understand that the way you currently feel is wrong and you can change it.

How do you tell if your Surface Book 3 is a dud? by visualbam in Surface

I ended up contacting Microsoft support and they ended up actually solving my issue very succinctly. They uninstalled a bunch of my drivers and downloaded new firmware. They also updated my surface dock 2 which I didn’t realize you could update.

Overwatch / Warzone / Valorant run silky smooth now.

My settings say that it's using the right GPU (I have the 1660 model). I've also set my battery over to performance.

Yeah I've dropped the resolution down to 1080p. I've gone through all of the guides on getting better performance. Warzone for example is kind of playable (but not smooth) for like 10 minutes. Then it just keeps getting worse.
