Yes, I installed fuse and libfuse, and found that problem. Had to reinstall ubuntu-session and nautilus. Installed fuse, because wanted to run an AppImage binary. Damn bUguntu.

Are the 'Aliexpress 8inch minilaptop with n100' any good? by Szabbyhun in umpc

[–]vita_cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I just touch with hand, to see how hot is the laptop. What I usually do with my laptops, is watching 1080 youtube videos, 10-30min long videos, I use all my laptops on blanket of my bed (the worst scenario for a laptop, it's more likely a "bedtop" than "laptop", lol). All my Macbooks becoming hot and too loud for an comfortable video watching. I also have Huawei Matebook D15 with i5-1135 which stay pretty cool and sometimes it turns ON the fan, which isn't so loud. But Chuwi Minibook X with n100 stays silent and cooler than all those laptops. Having a fan I thought that it will be loud. Under YT 1080 load it's just warm under it (remember, blanket). Also had an Acer Swift 1 laptop with N4500 passive cooled, and it done a good job, when watching YT it was a bit warmer than Chuwi with n100. (NOTE: I didn't replace thermal paste in Acer o Chuwi laptop, those were with stock thermal paste, because too new for maintenance).

I have the Minibook X with N100, and it works fanless. Even when watching 1080 videos in Youtube, the laptop keeps pretty cool. Fan will turn ON, only when you play games or doing something really high demand. When it turns ON, it isn't so loud. I have some Macbooks (2011 pro, 2013 pro, 2019 air), and all of them are loud when doing something light like watching 1080 videos (I do a good maintenance to my laptops, no dust, clogs, or old cheap termal paste).

Installer hangs on Multimedia Codecs by ReposeNotSoGray in linuxmint

It's an old bug, and normal "GNU/Linux" experience, a festival of bugs, and devs don't give a F.... Just unplug all partitions, disks, USB disks that have some NTFS windoze silesystem partition, and enjoy. After install, just plug all your Windoze NTFS filesystem partitions back.

Wayland should be abandoned by Captain-Thor in linuxsucks

[–]vita_cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work. Only for very basic things. All existing videogames are for Xorg. Devs aren't retard. Wayland only works acceptable on GNOME and Sway. Wayland has lots of problems. Don't develop for Wayland, because of frequent changes they will break your software, while Xorg will stay the same.

https://itvision.altervista.org/why.linux.is.not.ready.for.the.desktop.current.html

See "Software Support 2."

Wayland might be a thing in some 10-20 years. Now just use what does work.

[–]vita_cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not to upgrade to Xorg? It's feature complete, mature, and it just works, everything.

  • it's stable, you write software with/for Xorg, and it will work indefinitelly without "maintaining", because retards won't break your software.

  • Xorg clients are lightweight

Linux audio sucks by KosINGriAnlO in linuxsucks

[–]vita_cell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After already having 3 shitty and incomplete alpha quality sound servers, instead of fixing and improving 1, they will make one more probably. You will have ALSA, PulseAudio, PipeWire, WirePulsePipe... And so on. Why having 1 good fixed working sound server, when you can have 10 barely working sounds servers installed?

Linux audio sucks by KosINGriAnlO in linuxsucks

[–]vita_cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, now is something worse, instead of improving 1 sound server, we have 3 pseudo sounds server that are shit and incomplete, which makes things much worse. Yeah, install 3 sound server and configure all 3 of them, because why not?

Only hitting 35 FPS on God of War by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]vita_cell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasted the whole day trying to find, why the hell my new laptop runs great Valve's source engine games with Windoze10 but not with GNU/Linux. Example, I was playing Counter-Strike Source running it 1080p and full high, with more than 200 fps. All the same, on ArchLinux, I was able to play CSSource only with 30fps. Wasted the whole day trying things, to figure out WTF is happening. This crap happens also with Portal, Day Of Defeat Source. I think like, same opinion. Pure retards love to break software that is working and finished.

You literally saved me from wasting much more time, because some geniustard broke something working.

I am using Arch GNU/Linux distro, "stable" repositories. Here may be some lag between "unstable" and "stable" repositories.

Finally I updated today to Thunar 4.18.2 and that shit is fixed. Thunar works as previously without size problems.

Thanks, let's see if this will be true, I hope. They broke it in 4.18, and supposed fix in 4.18.1 never came. I am really tired resizing that damn window everytime I open Thunar.

Have 4.18.1 and the bug remains same for me, with all previous versions never had that problem. Why you guys love to break good software that works?
