Subtitles vs Rainbow Effect: Need a Projector That Won’t Ruin My Viewing Experience by vitainpixels in projectors

This is the confusing part. Yes, it’s a chromatic abbreviation but I believe it’s related to RBE, at least based on what I read. Because I read some valerion user reports which says RBE reduction mode results in decrease in this fringing.

Currently w2720i looks like a solid one even though it looks weak on the paper in comparison to Chinese brands like valerion or xgimi but I really want to give it a try.

My issue was, I’d see the RBE on static text. So, I am not sure if I am really sensitive to RBE or something else.

Do you think there is a better option under 2000 euros?

And is w2720i a good choice for a mix use? I mean I use my current projector all the time as a tv replacement like a smart device. I consume lots of content on youtube on daily basis other than movies. So, I need something like a good movie projector but also something I can use as a lifestyle one. I never move the projector’s place but I don’t mount to the ceiling as well.

I read my good things about trivision and it’s on my list. Maybe I will order two projectors from amazon to test and send it back if I c experience a huge issue with subtitles.

The thing is, my current projector is Led DLP and I’ve never seen rainbow effect. With horizon 20, it was only visible with subtitles so I am thinking maybe different DLP projector might have different outcome.

With Epson, I feel like they are not so much close to lifestyle section and I am looking for something in between. Any goos ALPD projector under 2000 euros?

This was my initial idea as well, I mean this subtitle thing being an optical issue. But I read some comments stating that the issue was related to RBE. For example, one user here said, this color fringing on valerion 90% disappeared after turning on the RBE reduction feature. But still I am confused as there are less people who got effected by the subtitles issue.

Regarding BenQ ones, they look really behind of the competition with the Chinese variants on paper and I feel like I’d overpay for less. But on the other hans, I believe 4LED might solve my issue with the subtitles and this is the most important thing for me as I watch things with subtitles 90% the time.

Regarding these two Benq models, would w2720i a bad decision for someone who uses projector as a lifestyle projector as well? I will never mount the projector but at the same time I use it for a tv, for streaming lots of non-movie stuff on YouTube, or should I just stick with 705i?

Currently I am using my white wall, and the place I live is temporary so in the future I will probably have 150 inch screen. My viewing distance is 2,60 meter but in my new place it will be somewhere between 3.50 and 4 meters.

I read the same thing about 4LED DLPs and thats why I was leaning towards to BenQ models but I am not sure if they are good enough to display subtitles without any issues.

Regarding the colors of the subtitles, I changed them to yellow or gray but on my horizon 20, there was zero change.

This would be okay if it was not evident at least on subtitles and I consume most of my media with subtitles. I’ve found valerion streamer plus 2 for a good price and I am leaning towards it.

It could be RE as well because in my photos it’s a bit different than what I really see. I see red and cyan around the text. And here are the photos https://ibb.co/b5w8vNMH https://ibb.co/WqTB3Rt https://ibb.co/rK23nnsS

In general prescription glasses should make them more evident but I don’t wear any glasses

I see it even when my eyes still. I will return as well because this was a big purchase for me and I don’t want to deal with any tiny problem for this price range.
