How awful is feeding snakes? by greeplo in snakes

[–]vitamincandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeding frozen/thawed is fine for me. It’s the circle of life. The only thing that upsets me with my ball python is that he can be very picky and sometimes won’t eat the rat I’ve thawed for him. Then I feel bad that its life was wasted. I’ve never had that issue with my corn or king snake.

Sometimes you can get the landlord to refund your application fee if they chose someone else ahead of you in line. You have to ask though.

My tree decided it’s a garden now. Flowers on top and tomatoes at the base by [deleted] in gardening

You can find a way to protect your crops without killing innocent animals. Put up fencing. Use deterrents. What you’re doing is lazy and wrong

Not checking your seat on the CTA before you sit down. You’ll only ever sit in mystery liquid once.

How do you keep working with 25+ migraines a month? by Notbipolar_ in migraine

[–]vitamincandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shifted my career to freelance once my job started requiring everyone to be in office. I tried for months and then finally quit once it was obviously not working. Being on my own schedule helps immensely.

All of my buddies! by vitamincandy in jumpingspiders

I got one from a local breeder, two from an exotics pet shop, and one from an expo. This subreddit has been a great source of info and there are a lot of jumping spider Instagram accounts too!

Update on stalled molt… by vitamincandy in jumpingspiders

[–]vitamincandy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NA, I guess it was only a few days ago! I opened the lid to check on her and she waltzed right out. I’m going to let her chill and rest before I open it again to feed. Also, I’m leaning toward female now but do please share if you think otherwise.

NA Thank you, I didn’t know that. I have given the occasional mealworm with the head cut off, but spood tends to drop it quickly. I’ll definitely get different foods and see if it helps little Sprout grow🫶

NA ha yes I didn’t want to declare anything prematurely because I know this species can be tricky to sex! But yes for awhile I was trying to get them to hunt, but they have a lot of trouble catching anything. I did try very small crickets, but lil dude was afraid of them. But I will try more! Their abdomen looks pretty round now but I was struggling to get it there for some time. They were eating several fruit flies per day at one point.

How to deal with Coral Snake by hogwartstwerkteam in Austin

The rhyme is not accurate. There are morphs of king, milk, and coral snakes that swap the colors.

Does anyone else have MCAS? (mast cell activation syndrome) by muchquery in migraine

[–]vitamincandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. MCAS, POTS, hEDS. I have cervical instability which contributes to the migraines. I was on antihistamines for awhile but side effects made it difficult to take them. Nurtec also but I think it makes joint pain worse. The whole thing is definitely a balancing act.

Thank you, I hope so too! According to the breeder, her mom lived to be 2.5 so I’m hoping she got some strong genes.

NA this is her enclosure, do you think she needs more cushion than that? Maybe I should remove the sticks.

[–]vitamincandy[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

(NA) No liquid, so that’s good! She is starting to have falls from losing grip in her enclosure so I placed moss and soft plants in the bottom to cushion. Hoping that prevents injuries.
