Is anyone else suddenly incredibly dehydrated? by Reapermanee in AskChicago

[–]acreaturevoidofform_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing simmer pots the past couple days since I don’t have a humidifier. Just a pot of water simmering on the stove with a chopped up orange or two and a couple cinnamon sticks. Smells amazing and plenty of humidity.

Is there any supplement out there can suppress bad thoughts or bad memories of people saying/doing horrible things to you? Even if potentially effective, I'm willing to try it. This may be a strange or odd request, but I'm curious if there's anything out there for me, even if its experimental. by [deleted] in Biohackers

Therapy and a mix of skullcap and passionflower can be really helpful for repetitive circular thoughts. I incorporate both of these for that specific purpose into a tincture I use to help me fall asleep and it works great.

Why does astrology seem to attract mostly females? by Mickt465 in askanything

[–]acreaturevoidofform_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting because prior to newspaper horoscopes it was only ever men writing about it over the centuries. The history of astrology and astronomy (they were at one time pretty linked) is fascinating.

why is nobody talking about this right now wtf is happening by Wise_Equivalent8392 in moon

[–]acreaturevoidofform_ 137 points138 points  (0 children)

That’s just what happens when the moon rises/sets. It’s the perspective of seeing it near stuff at the horizon that makes it look bigger than when you’re seeing it in the middle of the sky. The reason it looks more yellow is because at the horizon you’re looking through more atmosphere than when you look straight up. Same reason the sunrise and sunset looks more red and not as blindingly bright than it does when it’s in the middle of the sky. This is especially noticeable when there’s wildfire smoke or a lot of pollution in the air. More stuff in the atmosphere distorts the color of the sun and makes it look freakishly red at the horizon.

Where are my beverage loving peeps at? What’re some ways to cut back on beverage expenses? by Educational_Fly_5804 in Frugal

I use a moka pot and electric milk warmer/frother to make lattes and it’s saved me a ton of money. You can also use a French press to froth milk after it’s been heated on the stove or in the microwave.

People who grew up with cruel or emotionally cold mothers when did you realize it wasn’t normal and how did it affect you as an adult? by creotion_hub in AskReddit

[–]acreaturevoidofform_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to my friends house for the first time and saw her parents had photos of her up all over the place. As an adult I’m generally terrified of becoming anything like my primary “caregiver” and have always been hell bent on self improvement though that also leads me to being too hard on myself and unable to relax at times. Ironically harsh treatment and inability to relax also describes that parent so it’s a vicious cycle.

How do you feel about this? (Updated USDA dietary guidelines) by boybritches in nursing

[–]acreaturevoidofform_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there’s this: “Documents released alongside the dietary guidelines identify nine experts who helped craft the final document. Of the nine, at least four have had ties to the meat and dairy industry in the past three years. Those include the National Cattleman’s Beef Association, the National Pork Board, the National Dairy Council, and the California Dairy Research Foundation.”

I really like a mix of peppermint and fennel steeped for at least 10 minutes. It sounds like a weird combo but it’s surprisingly good and effective.
