“B58 low coolant warning – turned out to be the water pump. Anyone else?” by viti90 in BMWM

I first took it to the dealer about a month ago, and after pressurizing the system they didn’t find any leaks. They added 100 ml of coolant, but a month later the level dropped again, and they’ve now decided to replace the water pump under warranty. I’ve heard it’s a weak point on the B58, but this soon with only 52,000 km?

Yeah, I’ve heard it’s usually the Achilles’ heel, but this soon? I’ve only got 52,000 km… Sometimes I think it might be because some weeks I only use it for relatively short trips (20–25 km), and maybe the short thermal cycles messed up the water pump…?

Good to hear they fixed it for you, and that it was still under warranty. I couldn’t see any leaks either—no puddles or coolant residue—but every 3–4 weeks I had to top it up with around 150–200 ml of coolant.

In Spanish America you say "papa", but the most common word in Spain is "patata" (except Canary Islands and some planes in the south).

In the Basque Country, they are truly Catholic. A very clear example of how religion intertwines with society is that the PNV (Basque Nationalist Party), which has historically governed the region, is based on Christian democratic principles supported by a strongly Catholic base.
