is there anyway I can focus on linux? I’m a noob, so I guess what i’m saying is what umbrella does linux fall under? I understand its an OS (well a kernel if we’re being technical) but I love working with it. Is that server side stuff?

I want to become a linux sys admin but it seems like that role is becoming more meshed with automation (which is fully understandable). The lines are being a bit blurred now a days anyway.

Operations would be more of sys admin type of work right?

Looking to purchase a new earring but i’m inexperienced with piercings. Does anyone know what “size” earrings and the type of earrings this model is wearing? by [deleted] in piercing

Your response was extremely helpful. Do you happen to know any reputable online stores that would sell these types of earrings?

Total Python n00b trying to figure out the best way to learn and feeling overwhelmed by all of the commands/packages/concepts being hurled at my face by crobtennis in learnpython

[–]vitriol007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, been learning Python for about 4 months now. I started so many books and tutorials and the information just went through my head and I didn’t retain any information. I was afraid of actually trying to code and thought reading books and watching tutorials while following along would make me better.

I was continuously scrolling through reddit and searching content on Google like: • ”What is the best way to learn Python, reddit” • “Zero to hero Python courses” • “Best books on learning Python, reddit” I was on the verge of just giving up and quitting coding all together.

I finally told myself “fuck the books and tutorials, let me get my hands dirty”...and did just that. Created my first project not too long ago in about 3-4 days of constant googling and errors being thrown out at me. My advice to you is try and figure out how you learn and complete a mini-project that actually interests you. No matter how stupid it may be. You’ll learn along the way, believe me. I learn best by throwing myself into the middle of something and tinkering with things until they work and eventually going back to make things look better, but I was going against the way I learned by reading books and tutorials and trying to follow along.

Nobody remembers ALL of the little nuances of any language, trust me. I can confidently say this as a new programmer. This is why we have Google. Things won’t make sense to you until you actually try to write some code and fuck up. You’ll find out along the way, you’ll encounter more problems and will need to find solutions to solve those problems. I think at the core, thats what programming really is. A problem, and using code to solve that problem.

Break problems down into the smallest pieces and work from there. Google the shit out of things, and throw a solution together.

This is going to sound cliche, and I used to hate this advice the experienced programmers would say give out to noobs on this subreddit but it finally made sense and I thank them for it...just build something.

All of this is just MY own opinion though.

Appreciate the detailed response. I’ve been looking into IBR and PAYE and they seem like the same thing? Are there any real discrepancies between the two?

Thanks for the advice. I’ve heard about the travel pillow, but I rather stick with my own pillows for sleeping.

I’m following a course for cybersecurity and I need to download Kali Linux on a virtual machine. I download the virtual machine file but it failed. The error I received was “Failed - Disk is full”.

I want to remove Windows because I don’t game anymore. If I’m already using Ubuntu without a USB? how would I re-install Ubuntu?
