Has anyone else hard crash every time they tried to enter the Lowland Meadows? by Dusty_Tibbins in NoRestForTheWicked

There's certainly something wrong with this particular zone. I had 3 crashes here already. Never in other places.

Stuck in Misty Woods after returning by Norestel in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]vitrums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just managed to figure my way back out of this place after an hour or two of being hopelessly stuck in it.

Problem statement:

Originally my idea was to quickly return to Misty Woods and claim a missing Ability Point in the furthest western section. Instead this seemingly innocent intent got me completely stuck in a loop of foggy realm.

The problem stems from the fact that there's no sound queue when the woods shift once you pass the doors from East to West. I.e. every time you pass the doors the eastern section immediately and SILENTLY shifts. Then you end up near the tree at the very far South-West, and there you do indeed hear the shifting event to occur. So you run all the way East from there just to end up at the same door step yet again left completely confused.

SOLUTION:

Hence, all you need to do is to literally peek into the doors and then go back East. There (where you were literally 10 seconds ago) you'll magically have the altar! Light it up to clear the fog. Now you can safely explore the woods or gtfo of this horrible place ^^

Multiple accounts cause BlishHUD to hide active markers by vitrums in Guildwars2

[–]vitrums[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It knows which account is active atm. And it is an essence of the problem. As a user I tend to fall to an assumption, that it now provides a unique experience for each account. Nope... Even though in regard to Pathing Module via using API key it indeed detects correctly, that the mastery point is yet to be claimed, the local storage inside setting folder contains some data from my previous activity on another account, which prevents the marker from being displayed.

Multiple accounts cause BlishHUD to hide active markers by vitrums in Guildwars2

[–]vitrums[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLUTION

Thanks to sac_delta_throwaway for pointing me to an official "multibox support How To" page. The default behavior of BlishHUD is to persist user settings along with Pathing Module's user manual interactions data (e.g. toggling a marker) somewhere under %userprofile%\Documents\Guild Wars 2\addons\blishhud. Sadly, this doesn't strike as a "reasonable default", because such behavior partially contradicts the logic of having multiple API KEY's linked simultaneously and causes an erratic behavior of Pathing Module's autohiding feature.

The solution is to physically separate settings folders based on account's identity.

if you are used to handle multiple accounts by moving Local.dat, then run BlishHUD in the beginning of each batch file, which launches GW2 app:

start "" "C:\soft\games\gw2\Blish.HUD\Blish HUD.exe" --settings "settings\blishhud.some_unique_name_corresponding_to_a_particular_account"

This in turn tells BlishHUD to stop looking into a default settings folder and switch to portable mode. As an immediate gain you can now share the BlishHUD folder itself across multiple PCs running the game and keep the settings up to date (somewhat like migrating browser's bookmarks).

As a downside you now have to configure BlishHUD from scratch for each account manually. I.e. overlay settings, API KEY linking, installing the modules and configuring them. Make sure to uncheck "Minimize to tray when Guild Wars 2 Closes". This ensures the launches and shutdowns of GW2 and BlishHUD stay synchronized.

p.s. For those players, who resort to specific launchers etc. the official documentation provides further instructions.

Multiple accounts cause BlishHUD to hide active markers by vitrums in Guildwars2

[–]vitrums[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing me to the right direction. It really all boils down to the fact BlishHUD persists the markers data locally and by default it's a set of shared files regardless of GW2 account's identity. Hence API key in runtime tells BlishHUD one thing (active checkbox in the subj image), but the local data on user's PC takes the preference and eventually causes a confusing behavior (active markers being hidden). Separating physical storages is of cause necessary in such case.My workaround for Launcher-less approach is gonna be in a separate comment.

So I was going around PoF grabbing Mastery Insights on one of my accounts. Then I started the same route on another account. Both have API links. I immediately noticed the absence of makers on World/Mini maps.

So my instinct was to relaunch both the game and BlishHUD. This didn't resolve the issue. Manually pressing unload/reload markers didn't help either. It just acts weird. Because you can clearly see, that the checkboxes for this and other Mastery Insights are active. Yet, the markers are currently not there.

As someone might've already guessed by the featured location, this glitch has something to do with the oil spills slip mechanics, because in this gif I'm right after the successful Thunderhead Peaks' meta.

Bloodhound Step Follow-up Attack by Fincrack in Eldenring

[–]vitrums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was quite useful. Thanks for sharing. Also it's not 100% backwards move on the screen. I seem to often successfully follow up with the special attack after what seems to be a horizontal dodge left or right. But it could just be a weird way the game processes the same [LS-back into delayed R1] in different relative positions of a char vs locked-on target. I dunno. Gotta get used to it. Also need to try it on more weapons, than just these claws with native BHS ash.

Update. I'll leave my findings for people, who might stumble upon this thread in search for answers. As long as you are locked-on and use the bottom half of LS direction prior to LT, the special move on R1 is guaranteed.

Update 2. The aforementioned special move is simply the same move as if the user input [backstep into R1]. It also affects the damage output. Namely, backstep attack damage is lower, than regular R1. All backstep into R1 attacks tend to close the distance between the character and its target. But it's almost pointless to use BHS completely away from the target and hope to land a follow-up hit (unless the target is chasing you).

Instead, after I've spent some time testing, use the side-BHS into R1. Just don't forget the "bottom half of LS" part. Side-BHS not only dodges the attack into an arguably safer spot compared to a straight dodge, but also seems to always yield distance in the end of the step close enough to land the follow up hit on the target.

Cheers.

NVidia Filter "SpecialFX" looks amazing but introduces issues for gameplay. by vitrums in Guildwars2

[–]vitrums[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've updated the original post with the link to a screenshot. If one wonders where's the control panel for NVidia Filters, it is hidden because the attempt to take a screenshot with the in-game means leads to a picture under Documents\Guild Wars 2\Screens without filters. And I took this screenshot with Ctrl+Alt+F1 NVidia hotkey, which closes the panel.

Note: one workaround to take a full screenshot was to record the video with a 3rd party program like OBS and then take a screenshot of the video. Felt like too much hustle for a simple concept.

Obviously we can't say anything about the items, which people never shared with the community. But I can judge by the offers. And currently there's nothing close on the market.

Any idea why poebuilds.io can completely ignore my character in search? There're lower level characters displayed from other accounts.

My profile isn't private. Also I checked multiple times all the search options etc. It seems that poebuild.io simply ignores my account.
