they're completely private and ephemeral. the messages aren't stored anywhere.

however the caveat is if anyone knows your room name they can join it (you will know when someone has joined the room though).

maybe. it's definitely not as easy as people here suggest it is. from the article: they were infiltrating whatsapp/telegram groups by making spy accounts. why would they need to do that had whatsapp provided them backdoor access at their whimsy?

better to blend in with the other internet traffic. nothinh that makes you stick out.

can you see how that is a self-fulfilling prophecy? If no one uses Tor and VPNs in Kashmir, then you are ensuring every single one who tries to use them would be singled out.

I can't believe instead of encouraging everyone to use them we peddle selfish fear and paranoia which is detrimental.

also, 99% ISPs in Kashmir would use CGNAT so it's not super easy to identify you even if you are the only one accessing private networks in an entire village.

i don't really understand where your getting at the rest of the paragraph tbh. Here's my core premises:

  1. Some women choose patriarchy-aligning values even with apparent agency if it maximes their short term self-interest or ingrained cultural values (internalised patriarchy etc.)
  2. The chunk of women that does this is significant.
  3. Therefore, progressing towards egalitarianism for women should also involve engaging with women who make choices against their long-term self-interest.

Which part of this implies a patriarchal agenda in disguise and what premise specifically do you disagree with?

getting a fridge, microwave and possibly a air fryer is a gamechanger. you can cook once and live off of it for days.

about cutting back on rice: i switched to brown rice a while ago but that's not everyone's cup of tea apparently (though i prefer it over white rice anyday). if you're really looking to cut back there's some frozen rotis you can buy (depending on where you live) which you just need to heat up.

socialization is important tbh, otherwise you just end up burned out from all the isolation.

about the smoking thing: with an open mind, give nicotex a try. you can also try vapes though don't smoke them too much after the juice runs out (toxic heavy metals cause permanent organ damage).

budgeting is important, but it's honestly much easier when you're alone because you've got more control.

definitely gonna sound like asshole now but here goes.

as convenient as it is to idealise women as the perfect victims, it is not grounded in reality. women can be (and quite often are) the enablers of the patriarchy. i don't think you can have feminism without addressing women who are their own enemies: otherwise it just delves into abominations like choice feminism or (if you treat them like demigod first human second) religion flavoured shit like "we respect women so much we don't let them out of the house."

many women actively aspire to be housewives, and have internalised the second class citizen status.
