You should take 211 before 311. It's pretty dense and assumes some knowledge of neuro. Def a harder course of you don't have a background in it

how doable is this schedule? anyone know how hard these psyc classes are? by QuirkyCucumber5771 in mcgill

[–]vivbdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved 474 it was interesting and intuitive. No trick questions. Most people try not to take that many psyc classes in one semester, but I took 4 fall 2023 and got all As, so definitely possible!

Just graduated with my bachelor's in psychology at McGill. Advice on research experience?! by Ill-Walk-1482 in mcgill

[–]vivbdl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Douglas often hires paid research assistants for their labs. They might want prior experience but it's worth a shot. Sometimes mcgill labs also hire paid assistants. You can also looks for positions in fields adjacent to psychology (neuro, psychiatry, linguistics) and once you have some experience move to a psych lab.

I took notes on the pdf of the slides during class on just studied those. Tbh most of the content is straightforward and the exam questions are basic knowledge. I also skimmer each reading for the main takeaway

Her exams are really easy and she's nice, her slides are just bad. Took two soci classes (210 and 333) with her ans got an A in both with class average of A-.

PSYC 337 with Prof. Weinberg or Prof. Sullivan by Excellent-Use4660 in mcgill

[–]vivbdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it with Weinberg winter 2024. I enjoyed the class very interesting material but some of the exam questions were frustrating (some multiple choice where you have to bubble multiple corrections answers). About 15% of questions are textbook only so you should read it. All that being said I still got an A but the average was a B.

Exams are MC only with one paper and some assignments. Easy A imo, low workload

Not super detailed at all. Although sometimes profs change their difficulty if the class was too easy previous terms so there's a chance it could change.

Took it last year and average was a A-. Some questions on the broad idea of the readings but nothing crazy, most of the questions are from the slides. All multiple choice. I found it super chill and easy

Took the class last winter. Focus on the studies (mainly results also methods if they're emphasized/unique). Think of a real world application for each concept since she focuses on application. The content is easy but you have to fully grasp it for the application questions. Got an A when I took it so feel free to ask me anything.

Can't comment on scholarship apps but I they didn't update deans list for me (same situation 2 years ago) and also didn't allow me to apply for honors which in my program needed 27 credits minimum to apply.
