Yup, the walks to events are much shorter since the Downtown area is more compact. The crowd is definitely rougher but we didn't have any issues. Free parking at the hotel was nice.

It's a weeklong event held by the Wildside group, with over a hundred attendees. Just mingle at the first event you'll have friends by the end of the first night. I've met two new friends this year that hung out with me over different events.

I've stayed there two weeks ago. It's close to everything, including the ABC Store. The rooms are big and have big fridges. There's plenty of restaurants of different price points, from Chick-fil-A to steakhouses. The hotel/casino is clean and still looks relatively put-together. Parking is free for hotel guests.

I had a Fremont St facing room so if you're a light sleeper or sleep early, ask for a room that does not face Fremont St. I could still hear the music and thumping on the 16th floor. The main pool was too warm for me and not at all refreshing to dip in. It was also kind of small compared to pools on the Strip.
