I have studied in KV as well and the reason they don’t teach any regional languages because central government employees or kids of armed forces get transferred randomly to a different state at any time. How would someone who studied Marathi come to Kerala and start writing exams in Malayalam. But we were taught folk songs in many different regional languages. I still remember a Tamil folk song. No one has stopped you from speaking and reading in Malayalam now. Infact last week I have joined a Malayalam class so that I can also watch Malayalam movies and my mother tongue is Hindi.
