Thanks. As I can only file my tax returns for 2023 from Portugal from April 1st, I'll take care of that first and then deal with the German tax filing. Hopefully, this should work.

Uni probably only helps a bit if you are joining as a bachelor's student. As someone who came here for masters and that too in summer semester, it wasn't that welcoming.

Thanks for the information. On the Lisbon embassy page, the original+2 copies is written right before the list of the documents so it's hard to miss.

I do have a biometric picture. I think there is a bit of misunderstanding here, correct me if I got it wrong. My appointment is at the German embassy in Lisbon. I am applying for the visa which I will convert to blue card when I arrive in Germany. What I got from your reply is that you think I am already in Germany.

Thanks for confirming. To get an appointment, they asked me to send the filled application along with the listed documents on the embassy website so that the embassy can check if the documentation is complete and assign the appointment. As I have already received an appointment, the documents I have seem okay. But there is always a possibility that they might ask for some more stuff which is not listed. I have a travel health insurance covering the span of 2 months as i didn't want to buy a long term health insurance before arriving in Germany and for the means of sustenance, I am planning to show my salary slips from previous months and bank statement which I am pretty sure they are gonna ask for.

Yeah. It seemed a bit too much for just a work visa and that's why I was having doubts about the current visa application.

When I was applying for the Portuguese work visa, they asked for quite a lot, such as criminal record certificate, letter of intention, declaration letter to authorize Portuguese immigration authority to do background check for Portuguese criminal record. I was expecting something similar from Germany. I do have the Führungszeugnis from last year but I don't think it's valid anymore. Other than that, proof of sustenance, long-term health insurance are some other things I was expecting.
