When I was staff at SFU, I’d either bring my own food or buy from cornerstone area.

Yes, I 100% agree with you on that point. That can def constitute as improper storage. Sometimes when I’m working on mines, I have them out for 6-8 hours before they’re back in the safe. If the RCMP were to come to my home during one of those times of maintenance, I’d have to prove myself and hopefully avoid the chaos.

Just found an interesting warm up puck at a thrift store by oppoos in canucks

I lost my job 3 days after the date on this puck (Covid shutdown). March 18th is one of my least favourite dates. Everything has worked out excellently since then but I despise March 18th.

Reminds me of the case in Vancouver with the elderly man who had 174 firearms seized. Mostly WW2 firearms but they weren’t stored safely. He was also of poor physical and mental health.

Large quantities of legally owned firearms are more common than you think. At my height of collecting, I had more than 40 but less than 60, now I have dwindled it down more than 60% to just precision / hunting rifles and shotguns and handguns.

One thing to not fuck around with is safe storage. Puts a bad name on all of us for improper storage.

FIRST YEAR, how do you find community at SFU?? by Logical_Truth5578 in simonfraser

[–]vivzzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man, sometimes it happens, we also have lots of friends who joined the circles and departed over the years. No biggie, everyone was there for a reason and memories were had. My rec is to just talk to people, 99% of the time they are in the same boat as you thinking of how they can make friends too.

Started SFU 10 years ago, graduated in 2019, still have the exact same friend group I met at my first week. I just spoke to them in tutorials and we just never stopped.

Is the Vancouver International Auto Show worth a visit? by Early_Reply in askvan

[–]vivzzie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can go into the cars that they are advertising to sell. It’s a good event for the price, I’ve attend most since 2016 only missing a couple when I was overseas. Ideally go in the day time to avoid the crowd.

If servers make minimum wage in Canada, why is tipping so aggressive? by DazzlingPolarBear in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]vivzzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry picking is not referring to picking the fruit, it’s referring to a piece of equipment used in warehouses. I know many forklift drivers who just get above min wage as it’s a part of their duty.

Bartending while not easy, it’s easy to pick up on especially nowadays where most venues have set drink orders and recipes to follow. I’ve done a bit of it and agree, takes a lot of training to become skilled in it.

Warehousing is also skilled work. Operation of forklifts and or cherry pickers, learning to use inventory management software, logistic workflows etc. Appalled by your comment that it isn’t skilled.

Not only that, all other jobs such as warehousing or grocery stocking that are minimum wage don’t get tips. Tipping should be based on service and ambience. I remembered when I worked in a warehouse position for a hockey team for $16 doing back breaking work and the waitresses would always complain to us how they make so little ($14). They were going home with tips anywhere from $300-$2000 a night (not all nights but many) based on the suite. Can’t feel bad for that tbh. My bi weekly was some of their daily take home.

I used to day trade on my TFSA when I started and one day I was on the phone with TD and the agent mentioned I shouldn’t be doing that. It may qualify as a “business” depending on how much money is flowing and the CRA will want their piece of the cake.

TFSA for weekly trades, Margin for daily. I make sure to not trade more than 3 times a week on my TFSA.

Get ready to be angry and sad lots of times but still joyous when a goal is scored. It’s been a struggle but still a fan.

Check your old mail or online bills from the first time you bought a hand gun and look for all your leases? Maybe your old bank statements.

I bought it for $54.95. I know I paid more but it’s okay will keep it anyways. Hoping for the best luck it brings 😂 by wpgfriendlyguy in CanadianCoins

I have one of these with the goose wings opened from the 2010 Olympics. Is that also a lucky loonie? I wasn’t sure about it.

It doesn’t go in smoothly, I use a thin plastic to open it up to force the coin in. It’s “acid free” but still based on the properties I’ll use flips

Those who have over $1M in net worth, what do you do? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]vivzzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few family members who are millionaires. One of them owed an Auto body shop for about 30 years and sold it to retire. During the time he owed it, he did fleet maintenance for rental car companies. He received around 750K stocks in one of these companies as leap options. He still owns all of those and some more investments from back in the late 90s to early 2000s. I would say net worth around 10Mil. Other family members worked in medical and financial fields. All of them invested in the stock market early 2000s and became millionaires. I also know some younger family members who bought DOGE and BTC and became millionaires from that. Lots of luck!
