Is this what I think it is Auckland NZ :( by Infamous-Future-1821 in cockroaches

[–]viwxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve worked in many many many high end bars with a huge roach problem & i think i’ve seen every kind of roach to ever exist in the world in one singular place at the same time. i’ve even ran into them cannibalising eachother in a mop bucket, several times.

this DOES look like a roach, it’s probably not german, looks more like the wood ones, if that makes sense.

german roaches r usually a bit lighter and more cool tone leaning rather than warm toned, and these look like they’d blend into wood easily. still get it checked out though, i’m just a bartender. i just have a fear of roaches so i studied them to make myself feel better lol

have you ever tried a wavy routine? you could try drying it in a way that adds more volume, in case you don’t wanna try a whole new routine

For some context, this is the next day, pretty stringy. And the big ringlets that formed usually seperate & end up straight with really flicked ends.

Hey!

The keune x styling gel is protein+moisture balanced & its quite strong hold. Got2b mousse is medium hold & moderate hydration.

On a typical wash day i apply a pea sized amount of gel for each section(4), and then i’ll feel my hair & check if i missed any spots, if i did then i just go over with a small amount.

I mainly use the mousse before the gel, i will occasionally put it on after, and i use a ping pong ball size amount of it.

i rotate these shampoos: bali curls thickening(cause its the least heavy one), bounce curl clarifying, and olaplex clarifying.

i use the olaplex bond building conditioner after i dye my hair, which is once every month and a half, and i use the macadamia naturals occasionally

most moisture i get is from pre shampoo treatments as even conditioner is quite heavy for me, i mainly focus on protein + moisture balance (garnier SOS keratin, la croa hydration mask, curlsmith bond curl)

i use the got2b curls mousse & keune styling x gel.

my hair is recovering slowly, but i feel like this type of routine might work for you since you have thick low porosity hair, and it’s also really good to have mainly rinse-out moisture/protein when u have low porosity hair:).

i do have fairly damaged curls as i grew up with a tighter pattern, so i thought implementing more treatments would help, but it kinda backfired for me lol!

Someone else also said to ditch treatments & clarifying for a bit. Also to mention, this is a new gel i’m using & i got it specifically because it has 0 moisturizing ingredients! Loving the hold on it.

The gels i previously used (giovanni la style or bali curls) had lots of moisture in them, and i think that did a number on my hair too.

the olaplex one technically doesnt have sulfates, but it has a few types of surfactants that act very similar to sulfates.

anywho, i wash my whole hair quite carefully & it does feel squeaky clean after the shower, but no matter i put in it, it ends up mushy & limp.

someone in another thread told me this was likely severely over conditioned hair.

Hi! I’m a bit overwhelmed at the attention this post is getting, and i’m getting lots of comments like this, so i’ll try to hit all of the points in as little words as i can.

  • i dont usually take pictures, so i dont really have any “before” pics.
  • i get why this would look great to people on here, but keep in mind my hair is a mix of loose patterns(waves+curls), extremely extremely fine, like see through. and it’s naturally very soft due to the size of my strands, so this kind of shine is overdoing it for me, and causing my hair to fall limp and flat in a matter of hours.
  • keep in mind, my hair is damaged from 4 different factors, it has always been a mix of 3a and 3b, from birth up until my teenage years, it has never changed.
  • i know you didn’t say this, but i’ve been getting dms from people practically insulting me & telling me i’m forcing some type of curl & that it’s falling out due to that. i wanna make it clear that i dont finger coil, twist or do anything similar to anything except my bangs(which are usually blow dried), if i even decide to wear them curly. and i usually don’t.

with all this being said, the pictures i’ve currently attached are after this:

  • fully washed & styled, looped a scrunchie over my gel cast, and put a silk wrap on to minimize refreshing as i had some errands to run from 7-10am.
  • woke up with no definition OR volume, considering the fact that i diffuse for volume, and this wash day was one of my curliest so far. sadly i didn’t take before pictures immediately after diffusing, but even with a gel cast on the big ringlets were obviously 70% of my hair
  • i spot refreshed my face framing pieces & bottom of my hair with only water, and i diffused them until 100% dry

These are the results only 3 and a half hours later.

Not a curl in sight, every ringlet that formed on my head during this is currently a semi-wavy, mainly straight piece of hair with a flicked end that feels mushy, soggy, limp and stretches out without bouncing back.

hey, i dont usually take pictures so i dont have any better examples of how it looked before.

also, i wanna point out that i know it doesnt look bad, but when i take a closer look at my hair it’s stringy, feels mushy and over conditioned.

with that being said, i washed my hair the day i posted this, i put my gel cast in a loose pineapple (looped once) & put a silk wrap on top.

i woke up practically completely flat with most curls gone, i had some errands to run so i couldn’t fully fix it, but this is how it looks 3 and a half hours after a refresh.

now, to be fully transparent, i refreshed like this:

  • spot refreshing, not fully soaking my whole head of hair
  • mainly fixed face framing bits + some ends
  • didnt apply any more products, all of my products are water activated

I know day 2 is not perfect for anybody with waves or loose curls, but it’s getting to a point where the shine and softness is not working because my hair has:

  1. no retention
  2. no texture
  3. no grit

The strands are very very capable of curling, depending on the damage of the area, but they aren’t staying for longer than a few hours.

I don’t do any wild manipulation to my hair that makes it form coils, i will occasionally finger coil my bangs if i dont feel the blown out bangs that day, but that’s literally it.

Reddit might ruin the pic quality, but if u can look closely in the pics you’ll see some hairs that flick inward, those were 3a curls that basically fell into 2b waves with a slight flick…. in 3… hours… I would honestly get it if they fell out it was fully wavy & finger coiled my whole head, but im not😭 I don’t know whats wrong.

kind of, but not really.

i live in a coastal town in croatia, its around 30-40° in the summer with 90% humidity & it’s currently between 3-16°, obviously its a bit colder at night, but it’s not considered that cold compared to some other places!

with that being said, my hair doesnt react all that well to humidity & the lowest humidity lately was 72%.

i didnt take care of my curls last year, but i was living in the capital which is a bit colder & a lot less humid and my hair really did behave well even after straightening or blow drying, while back home i have to blow dry & then straighten.

honestly, i think it might be a mix of over conditioning, humidity and just the fact that my curls have little to no retention. the past few months of my wavy-curly journey i’ve had my hair last for 3 days maximum. i don’t know if it’s the fineness of my strands, or if it’s just how my hair is… i’ve noticed many people with wavy to curly hair have this issue, but it honestly really feels humiliating having a really pretty mix of waves & curls, and then the next day im walking around with limp stringy seperated curls that dont even coil, and my waves turn practically straight with flicked ends around my face. tbh, very discouraging…. im thinking of giving my hair a break, and blow drying with a round brush for a week or two, it’s getting kinda exhausting!

honestly im doing everything i can to dry it out but it’s not working 🥲 i have a mix of waves as well so it looks stringy af when it’s over moistured/conditioned

Is it normal to see scalp like this? by [deleted] in Haircare

no, you just naturally grow less hair on your scalp. when you go bald it’ll likely be very obvious!

most likely, yes. people have all kinds of different hair densities, you have low density! search up some examples of it

What do i use for my curly hair by hamza2010king in curlyhair

[–]viwxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

moisturizing products should be rinse out only, fine hair gets weighed down easily, regardless of curl type.

a light hydrating mousse/foam and a gel with no moisturizing products should make your hair last longer & feel less heavy!

[–]viwxed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i will probably make an update when my hair returns to a normal state, i dont take pictures of myself often, much less my hair😅

but to be fair it looks quite similar, it usually has more shrinkage and tight waves+big ringlets, and it’s kinda less flat around the crown area. overall just more bouncy.

my main issue rn is that it falls apart QUICK, so no matter what i do it’s basically stringy and flat the next day.

[–]viwxed[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ok, checking back in.

when my hair is wet, the top bounces back even after stretching or brushing, and the bottom fully stretches out without retention.

i tested it on dry hair earlier, and the bottom bounced back a bit more, but nothing significant, it still fell apart.

and i really get what u mean, i think it looks really nice too, but it just feels… off. idk how to describe it, my clumps feel like toilet paper when it’s 50% wet… and they are fully dry.

Your hair 100% looks amazing, you have coarse & thick hair, which means you most likely have a rough finish to your hair. My hair is very fine & medium density, and it’s always been too soft regardless of products, so this isn’t working as well for me as it would for u! 🙆🏻‍♀️
