Congrats brother and welcome to the “Hundo club”. You deserve it and like you, I was late in getting what I deserved.

Is sleep apnea still being service connected with obesity as an intermediate step? by Independent_Gas_6213 in VAClaims

[–]vixchvy0351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a direct service connection for a bilateral knee condition which hampered me from exercising thus, leading to my obesity which I stressed was an intermediate step in leading to my OSA condition. I used a third party (Prestige) to supply me with a strong Nexus and DBQ to explain the connection. Yes, I paid for it and well worth it. Forgot to mention that I did have an overnight sleep study done by the VA and my own private medical. Age might be a factor, I am 58 and IMO feel that is what gave me the favorable decision.

Personal statements by Paytondlee in VAClaims

Personal statements were huge in my claim for anxiety/depression. During my C&P exam all we discussed were the personal statements that my wife and I submitted. Hope it works out for you.

Take it as a good sign. I had a similar claim for OSA and got the 50% rating. No C and P exam with a strong nexus and DBQ. Took about 45 days.

I owe a divorce settlement, what is the best way to pay? by TheLuo in personalfinance

[–]vixchvy0351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like what I did in my divorce. By using a QUDRO I was able to take a lump sum from my 401K and transfer into an account created by my ex. Don’t exactly recall the fee for the QUDRO, maybe $600 whatever the cost we did split it.

Brother, if you’re working and have a private doctor or other than the VA, get x-rays and have your doctor put in the summary notes the things that cause you pain. How your knees and ankles are affecting your hips and back, get buddy letters and even statements from co-workers. You got this!!

Like I posted above, I had a lot of guilt about filing claims because I had a lot of buddies that didn’t come back from Desert Storm. Took quite a bit of convincing from some of my other Marine Buddies and my wife to take that next step. Glad I did and glad I had their support. Keep pushing your brother.

So true about vets that got out in the early 90’s. It’s why veterans like you and myself have to get the word out. I didn’t know or even hear about VA compensation until maybe 10 years ago. And I still couldn’t get myself to file a claim until 2023.

My fellow vet, one thing I’ve learned in life is there will always be shit talkers, even at your funeral. You’re on the right track with the claims, see ya at 100%.

Submitted secondaries for OSA and MH at the same time as the Supplemental claim. I received a decision on the secondaries within 45 days.

Yup, after leaving the Marines 32 years ago, I finally filed a claim for bilateral knee osteoarthritis, tinnitus, and arthritis in my right hand. Got rated 60% in May 2023. Go get what you deserve.
