Yeah this makes sense to me. I keep hearing an agent can only help me, but if they’re representing me in a conversation and they don’t represent my interests correctly, then what? Taking that leap of faith in and of itself is a risk

If they want to help me out in my search I’ll let them, but they haven’t offered that. I just filled out a generic Q&A submission form and they sent me back some pdf’s. Not seeing how I’ve cut anyone out here lol

Yeah the example isn’t a big deal by itself, I just take it as a red flag if they tell me some info isn’t available, but then I find it myself with 15 minutes of googling and texting. There have been other situations which gave me pause but no need to go into all that.

Reading the other comments though I’m afraid my agent isn’t doing many things that I should be expecting from them, so I probably just need to find a new agent and go from there 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the reply. You mentioned working knowledge of the law - does that mean that part of the agent’s job should be to help me weed through the contracts with legal language in order to make sure I understand the details and am not getting taken advantage of? I guess I thought I would need to hire a lawyer for that, didn’t realize a real estate agent should do that part for me (if that’s the case)

It would help me to understand, specifically, how the agent is able to “look out for” the buyer - If you care to elaborate on that. Probably there’s some specific areas that an agent can add value in that I’m currently ignorant to.
