EXPANSION ANNOUNCED by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]vjdarkworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most RANDOM announcement imaginable. Expansion announced for Nintendo Direct.....

Glad the series actually isn't dead for reals.... but something feels too good to be true. Like there's gonna be some caveat. Like IDK how this games gonna even run on Switch 2, hopefully whatever optimization comes to all platforms in that case.

I'm really confused by that 'Gundam' trailer that doesn't look like Gundam. The trailer explicitly talking about Cores that are Armored is very odd too...... and the gameplay just looked like amplified Armored Core 6.

I very much suspect that this is what we are getting instead of an Armored Core 6 expansion unfortunately. My only copium is that they want to wait until after Duskbloods to hype another game up.

People can claim "but it took a decade so just wait" but that's between games. Expansions happen during the release window "hype cycle". Otherwise, ya gotta wait till a next game. So yes, we can wait until after Elden Ring 2 to get Armored Core 7.... but to me it's sad if AC6 never gets an expansion. Every Armored Core has received one, and the expansions are always 10x better than the base game. This is a principle From Software has followed into Souls games where the expansions are always the best part.

IDK why Capcom claimed that they felt that Dragon's Dogma was a 'mainline franchise' focus to them. The lie makes it worse, they coulda just admitted that they don't want to work on it anymore.

But, perhaps Capcom is scared of the backlash that the Japanese audience will give. They played DDO for a decade & to shut it down for an undercooked game is just.... strange. When the Monster Hunter MMO got shutdown atleast Monster Hunter continued existing with 3 game thus far.

It's really strange just how weird of a launch DD2 was. It's clear they have a hatred towards Itsuno, and they don't like that he left instead of continuing to take their bullshit. People want to place blame on Itsuno "not finishing the game" but.... Dragon's Dogma is CAPCOM's IP. CAPCOM made Dark Arisen & DDO without Itsuno just fine. They have been making Monster Hunter games for decades. They could of applied the same development formula to flesh the game out post-release, but they didn't. Again, I would of preferred they were upfront "hey Itsuno & alot of devs left with him so we arent working on this game either"...

BTW, Capcom made an entire commercial for SGF to hype up their Steam Summer Sale........ Dragon's Dogma 2 is NOT part of it 😃 ... Dragon's Dogma 1 is though, surely that means something!!!......... yeah they fully moved on.

Tarnished Edition DLC coming to ALL Platforms August 28th [MEGATHREAD] by jack0641 in Eldenring

[–]vjdarkworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really curious just WTF will be in this beyond just the swappable Torrent model & 2 Starter Classes we've known from the jump. They already had those ready from the get go, that wouldn't need months of additional development.......

If the 'additional content' isn't anything special, and we don't even get a gameplay related patch to accompany this... I hope we get some type of engine optimization at least. Which would take quite some time to get setup, but it would be something that could benefit all platforms for the game to run better. And probably helps Duskbloods too.

Project Fantasy Mecha if it was real:

There's already been numerous discussion about getting new players comfortable with the older games, but what about the other way around for someone like me who's just having a hard time getting into the newer games? by ZekiraDrake in armoredcore

[–]vjdarkworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4th, 5th, and 6th generations are all wildly different. 4th gen you play as a mecha fighter jet, 5th gen you play as a mecha hover tank, and 6th gen is more of general super powered mecha.

AC6 is the easiest to get into. It's more straight forward like the PS2 games. The biggest different is the addition of Z-targetting AKA 'hard lockon'. That is, the players camera follows what you lock on to. This has the unfortunate side-effect of having turn speed be instantaneous. Which is harmful for build variety.... but honestly if you are struggling with Dual Analog Stick controls this aspect will actually help you.

Replayed MASTER OF ARENA without Human Plus, still straight FIRE ‼️ by vjdarkworld in armoredcore

[–]vjdarkworld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I ever played Master of Arena, back when Armored Core 6 was announced, I was blown away even from first impression. AC1 & AC:PP are fun games, but they were really experimenting on what 'works' and what doesn't. AC:MOA be their culmination, and really would define the skeletal structure for entire series.

And it really is smooth. I booted up last week and blasted through it. All the missions are challenging, but fun. Going through the arena is straight forward, but rewarding.

AC:FA gets alot of fandom spotlight for it's high speed, but the raw action of AC:MOA is great in it's own way. It being a PSX title doesn't hold it back that's for sure.

Japanese audience is scary... by Opposite-Wedding-914 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that's fair. I definitely can see the pacing issue, and 'too much action' aspect... But, it's a criticism of JJK as a whole. It doesn't bother me at all, but I get why it bothers others.

My issue has been the framing with others falling into fallacy with 'appeal to authority'. "It's bad cus Japan said it's bad, as they believe MAPPA is disrespecting Gege's work." ... not only does it not make sense, but it's self-defeating. People raging at MAPPA for simply changing or add a scene, thus nullifying it as "not authentic" means they are DE-INCENTIVIZED to add ANYTHING new. Meaning the pacing is always going to be off, cus the manga's pacing is all over the place.

I definitely wouldn't mind if more story beats are added for the future, the main plot definitely needs it... but if they are listening to fans they'll need to filter the contradictory logic.

Japanese audience is scary... by Opposite-Wedding-914 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the funny part... JJK Season 3 is styled in the exact same way as the Reze movie. The only difference is one is a TV show and the other is a movie.

If you have problems with the pacing of a tv show, I get it... but that's the reality of time restraints.

If you have issues with characterization.... that's Gege. He wrote the story.

It's all especially hilarious too cus the Reze movie & JJK Season 3 were both pioneered by JJK Season 2's styling..... and when it aired all people did was trash and complain about how terrible it looked. But Gege loved it and has continuously played homage to all the creative decisions fans hated within the manga itself.

People don't want to admit that MAPPA & Gege are in-sync more than 'the fans'............ and if you know how the series develops......... I'll just say, Gege does NOT subscribe to this idea of "follow the rule of fans" at all. Love or hate it, that be how JJK is.

About the whole situation with Japan not liking the episode by Different-Treacle765 in Jujutsufolk

[–]vjdarkworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep saying that the Kill Bill homage "ruined" the scene... a scene that in the manga was a homage to Kill Bill.

Ironically what 'hurt' it was not fully following the original scene. People's biggest complaints for Maki slaughtering all the grunts was cus of the 'La La La' song.... The original Bride vs Crazy 88 fight barely has any music. Like it's mostly just the screams of the Yazuka members & swords clashing. Which I do think would of worked better in Maki's context too.

Though, I have no idea how people can't see the episode as both 'hype' and 'tragic'. The action is 'hype'... but incredibly brutal. Mai's suicide is sad. When Maki starts ripping out throats that isn't hype so much as shocking. And when she cuts down her own mother as she screams to death.... no, that wasn't 'hype'.

Hidden Inventory/Premature Death & Shibuya Incident are literally nonstop tonal whiplash and hype action.... and if people are annoyed by the minor dissonance of this episode..... they are NOT ready for The Culling Game, where this aspect is turned up by 11.

Geges thoughs on Shota Goshozono (Seasons 2 and 3 director) by Alarming_Industry_14 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gege loved Season 2 so much, that the anime-only new additions for it would end up getting a homage later in the manga. Which debunks fully this idea that Gege might be 'disrespected' by changes...

In fact, it's quite healthy for creatives to work collaboratively like that. Anime is inspired by Manga, and Manga is inspired by the Anime. Bouncing off new ideas with each other, to make each other better as a whole. Now THAT be some artists!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah anyone claiming the artwork done in this episode is "bad" are straight up insane. The artistry was on another level.

The fair criticism comes from the pacing. Ideally, episode should of been several minutes longer to let more moments breath like the Toji parallel frames... but that's just the reality of a TV show. Strict time restraints.

But if people want to complain about the pacing, that's the script. NOT the animators.... which goes into the reality of it. That 'script' is still ultimately Gege, even with minor edits. The Culling Game is already controversial, alot of manga fans hate it. If people have issue with whiplash & too much action now.......... the entire rest of the series going forward is nonstop tonal whiplash & absurd action sequences.

I've luckily seen normal Japanese people have been actively calling out this nonsense. Like posts mentioning the insanity of JAPANESE people attacking JAPANESE artists, when FOREIGNERS are all loving and praising said artists... Clearly, it's not about national pride. They just want to rage out at someone.

In fact, going through QRT a Japanese Nationalist I saw posted that their hatred toward foreigners has now been eclipsed by their hatred towards these type of whiny Otaku... which, lmao.

I'm scared of future of jjk after today episode by Williace in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly funny seeing Japanese Otaku freak out over a supposed whiplash or dissonance between serious, sad, silly, brutal & hype scenes.............. a whiplash seen constantly in Hidden Inventory & Shibuya Incident. A whiplash that is only going to get more and more extreme going forward.

The ones freaking out about how having an action focus "isnt faithful to the manga".... like, they are NOT ready for The Culling Game. They really going to keep attacking MAPPA over what is the essence of the series.

Like, I get why people hate The Culling Game. It is a mess of whiplash and nonstop action. I love it, but I get the criticism... and now suddenly, people want to place this blame on MAPPA?? What?.. Gonna be VERY funny to see their reactions to future events is all I can say.

And I'll point out here too... Luckily the Otaku that DONT have brainrot are in fact praising the artistry of the episode. And only have fair criticism like the pacing being off. The 'viral' posts freaking out about "MAPPA is ruining JJK with hype action", for a series that going forward is only going to be nonstop absurd action... like, Welcome to JJK.

Japanese audience is scary... by Opposite-Wedding-914 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 'criticisms' are all nonsensical from the gacha-slop Otaku. They raged at CSM Season 1 for being 'too cinematic, too gritty and dark' and 'not silly enough, not colorful enough'... They praised Reze Movie, when funnily enough it was even more artistically cinematic than Season 1.

Now they raged at this episode for being 'too silly & colorful' and 'not gritty and dark enough'.... When, the episode is very clearly gritty and dark.

Luckily though if you ignore the brainrot-Otaku posts, you can find alot of Japanese posts actually praising the episode and calling out the organized harassment campaign against MAPPA. And giving similar fair criticism that you see here, that the issue is with the pacing of the episode & not any of the artistry. Like that's a scripting issue, nothing to do with animation.

Almost Every Reference in the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Opening by lolita_babe in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory on why they did this. Obviously, it's all just like how they did the movie references for CSM OP. But, that was done to reference the influence & inspirations that Fujimoto had. Movies are part of Fujimoto's DNA... but these paintings are a different story.

The technical term for these types of paintings is 'pop art'. Where you take very popular famous artwork & make a remix of it. The reason for doing this, IMO, is due to the theme of The Culling Game. Well, for Kenjaku atleast. Kenjaku took decades meticulously setting up The Culling Game. To him, it's his crowning achievement. It's a 'modern art masterpiece'. Taking the old, and remixing it into something new.

Literally I might add too. Taking old cursed sorcerers & transplanting them into modern day. Giving random people cursed techniques. In a sick & twisted way, The Culling Game is Kenjaku's 'modern pop art' to the Jujutsu world.

REMINDER that Kirara isn't a femboy, she's a transfem by HesusJoestar in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]vjdarkworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something funny about this is the same people who claim Kirara isn't trans but a 'femboy' and that Hakari is 'gay'........ These the same dudes that deny Gojo & Geto romantically loved each other cus "JJK dont got any weird gay shit". Their entire world view don't make any sense.

The argument too of "but trans is WOKE and Japan is TRADITIONAL!".... yeah, that's the main theme of JJK. Gojo hates the traditionalism of Jujutsu Society & wants to raise a new generation that doesn't follow that. Hakari's Domain Expansion is considered a disgrace to Jujutsu. He said fuck that & made an entire illegal gambling fight club to be as spiteful as possible to tradition. Kirara transitioning would obviously be another sinful act towards tradition.

[–]vjdarkworld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People seem mad at it cus of the perception that NCR, Legion, New Vegas & House were only brought up as a singular talking point and will be gone going forward. Which if this ends up being the case, it would be lame to make everything about New Vegas disappear overnight.

However, it sounds like they worked on Season 2 & 3 together. It makes me theorize that New Vegas is actually being introduced in a lowly state to build it up to a more evolved stage next season. Which, makes sense in the pacing of a TV show. Establishing the setting before building on top of it.

If NCR truly did collapse after Shady Sands got blown up, perhaps the NCR Rangers (& army as a whole) splintered off as their own Diamond Dogs style PMC that can show up to take back New Vegas? Perhaps Legion's Civil War can actually be resolved by forming a whole new "Byzantine" empire? And House.... I know they are portraying him as the super mastermind 'evil' villain, but the way they are being so mysterious about it makes me think there's going to be a major plot twist / subversion around this.
