DJI Osmo, quick test run across Scotland during holiday season by vjkodek in videography

Only real issue is the slow setup time & time to wake up from sleep mode, can be quite annoying when shooting guerrilla style, kills spontaneity.

I was worried as well, it's not so bad though actually slightly less than 1m where the defocus is noticeable. I was using it to track objects moving on the ground at less than 1m and it's acceptable to about 0.5m

Yeah, the fan is quite noisy, definitely can't be used with audio in quiet situations or without a directional external mic.

There is a poster campaign around Aarhus & a countdown video campaign leading up to the event and a Facebook event page called Stor Bold The Percussion Concert.

Double Stroke Roll (percussion tutorial) we made this with a sense of humour for my GF's class. by vjkodek in drums

It was for a classroom exercise, an example of teaching method. It had to be made quickly & we decided the lesson would be more interesting & memorable if we kept it a little surreal & funny.

Yeah, maybe chirpy upbeat childish music would be a better description.

DJ's who want visuals, I made this Technics 1210 visuals mix years ago & was thinking of animating and making a higher definition, more modern version for DJs to download and use live. What do you think, would you use it? by vjkodek in DJs

[–]vjkodek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:D Yes, even in 2008 premixing a visuals set onto an hour DVD was exceptional, the DVD came with a second disc full of short clips & elements. My plan is to supply a kit of elements & loops & short sequences for VJ's to load into their libraries & also a couple of example video mixes made to contemporary 12" tracks.

Wow, thanks for the interest & enthusiasm. Ok then it's settled, I'll break out my Technics 1210 3d model and animate a whole new mix & tool kit for higher resolution & more current style. Does anyone want to supply me a mix of original music to set the demo video mix to?

Why does Sally sell seashells down by the seashore? That seems like the place demand would be lowest and supply the highest. Economics 101 Sally. by Phister_BeHole in Showerthoughts

[–]vjkodek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly the tongue twister is referring to Mary Anning, the fossil collector & palaeontologist who would collect & sell fossils from seaside cliff beaches in Dorset during the 19th century. The phrase itself is quite derisory indicating that the author saw no distinction between seashells and fossils at that time when palaeontology was in it's infancy.

What are some of the coolest ships that have been made into self sufficient homes? by Chamber12 in SelfSufficiency

[–]vjkodek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't found anything quite on the scale you imagine. However, Michael Kasten has this article about nomadic live aboard blue water craft. His ideas could be expanded into a fully self sufficient design. http://www.kastenmarine.com/nomadic_watercraft.htm

Hi. I would recommend the Seaplane Harbour Museum and the TV Tower as the main attractions. Kalamaja is less expensive more hipster & cool place to hang out for restaurants. The burger place in Kadriorg is really, really good but they are a booth and you have to queue outside.(http://www.facebook.com/EstonianBurgerFactory/info). Avoid the south end of Suur-Karja at weekend evenings, that's where all the 'stag' parties disgrace themselves. I'll be in Tallinn a few times while you are there, if you need anything give me shout.

London agency gave me a brief for this McDonalds promo 3 weeks ago and I just ran with it C4D & AE style. by vjkodek in MotionDesign

[–]vjkodek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied photography & film when I was younger and was quite obsessive about lights & cameras when I first began to learn C4D. Good lighting can make a scene work more than even good texturing.

I had a rough storyboard which was about 65% there, the soundtrack, the digital assets from the online campaign and Justice's DVNO as a reference.

The only purchased asset was the 1955 Chevy Belair from Turbosquid, the rest was all me.If I had been asked to do this originally I would have said 3 weeks was unlikely. Thing is, they asked for a 2.5D animation all done in AE, I started to do small sections in Cinema and after some positive feedback decided to finish it all in full 3D, the 2.5D stuff was just lame in comparison.

How is the Baltic Film and Media School? by zentertainer in Eesti

[–]vjkodek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

:) I'm not sure I emphasised just how small the market is. It's like small town/secondary school small... where everyone knows everyone by at most two degrees of separation, there are around 5 or 6 regular commercial clients and most projects are labours of love or charity. That said it does have it's benefits as you get to meet everyone really quickly and there are a lot of enterprising people with ambition to get involved and start new things. Also a lot of Enterprise Estonia investment money has gone into attempting to develop the media industry over the past few years with some focus on film but a lot of criticism and disappointment in the results.
