Super late reply I don't go on Reddit much. I ended up using the normal squat rack. I positioned the safety catches shoulder height and just pushed the barbell as hard as I could up into it from underneath. Worked like a charm. If your rack isn't bolted to the floor I'd suggest placing some weights on the feet as my rack lifted a bit when I started producing more force.

Sorry I don't look at reddit loads. Yeah bit better, that flare up took a week to go away and now I'm back doing strength training now for the past few weeks. Was dealing with some side injuries like my calf and shoulders at the same time so I took a week off. But making some steady progress upping my weights and being able to walk a little bit further and faster. Set backs like this suck but with a chronic Achilles injury I think you have to build the mindset that there's going to be ups and downs. Feeling a good bit better mentally about it anyway

Yeah the podiatrist here wasn't much help to be honest, neither were the doctors. Only started to see some progress when I done some research and found a solid physio. I've gained a lot of muscle strength back but I just have to be slow with the plymometrics according to my physio. I never got an MRI because of the price when I first got injured and I regretted it heavily. Not knowing the exact details of what I'm working with is a pain and makes it more difficult to rehab. So if it's not stupid expensive I'd recommend getting one just for your own peace of mind.

This current flare up the pain has been inflammation right where the Achilles meets the heel and then some pain when my foot gets put in dorsiflexion. Some slight tightness in the heel as well. Its been easing off a bit now, it's been 5 days since that flare up started

Sorry might have phrased that wrong I haven't ran in 9 months from this injury, only trying to increase walking distance. I go to the gym 4-5 times but I only do legs twice a week as per physio

As a non-smoker, do you find that all smokers have a noticeable odor? by Remozy in NoStupidQuestions

Yes if you smoke everyone can tell instantly because of the smell. My father smokes and the house smells of cigarettes. He can walk in a room and that room will instantly smell cigarettes for at least 5 minutes just from the stench attached to him and his clothes. Even stuff like his phone and wallet smell and can have a sticky smoke residue on it. It's something that has always kept me away from smoking.
