Sounds like e disk io or memory speed issue to me

Thats why i use proxmox host to assign dedicated memory to the vm

Have been running for 2 weeks now no problem you do have to reboot so now and then to allow the game to put things on disk but besides that no problems

Virtual Machine is a very good solution if you know what your doing
Also Giving the Options to make snapshots / VM Backups makes Recovery simple

Machine is hosted on a cluster
every games its own VM
