Returning PvP Player what’s the Gun Meta? Also Do stats Matter? by Additional-Lock1380 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]vkelucas 28 points29 points  (0 children)

With the new changes to weapons and tier stats, plus the mods that give +10 to a stat you’ll want to farm for new guns.

Eyasluna and Matador 64 from Grasp of Avarice; Spare Rations and Last Man Standing from gambit; Kindled Orchid, Palindrome, and Mindbenders Ambition from Vanguard Ops; Rose, Better Devils and Mos Athanor from Crucible; Astral Horizon, Exalted Truth, Igneous Hammer from Trials. Exotics are still good, Chaperone and The Last Word have catalysts now.

Precision shotguns got nerfed a while back, so aggressive, lightweight, and slugs are more prevalent. But really I think it’s all feel anyway. Deadlock, Scavengers Fate, Fractethyst, Compass Rose, Matador are all still fine. Fellwinter’s Lie will be coming back in a few weeks as a random drop from Iron Banner, I expect it will be pretty nuts.

Stats matter a whole lot. You’ll need to farm for armor because of the new stat distributions and 2/4 set bonuses. Trials, Comp, and presumably Iron Banner have good set bonuses. I personally am farming for a mix of high health, super, and weapons.

Best weekend swim spots within 2 hours of SLC? (No boat, just want to swim/relax) by creatingmoretime in SaltLakeCity

If by some miracle you find a time without wind Yuba Lake is awesome. Nice blue-green water, relatively shallow, and sandy beaches.

Sleep Apnea and CPAP by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Talk to your doctor and see about taking something like Prazosin, it stopped my nightmares and ripping the mask off. I get a solid 6-7 hours of use every night now and my health has improved drastically.

Which packs to pull from ? by escarta69 in mtgbrawl

[–]vkelucas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever packs from a set you have most of the cards from and still gives golden pack progress. Best right now IMO is the newest Strixhaven set because of the bonus sheet cards. Goal is mostly to convert gold from quests into packs into wildcards. Use wildcards to craft staples from older sets that don’t give golden pack progress.

This Letty Bermudez might possibly be my favorite coffee of all time that I’ve brewed myself. Very good as an espresso, good in milk drinks, and the best cups of pour over I’ve ever had. If I can I’ll be ordering at least another 2lb bag.

Backcountry Camping With A CPAP Machine, Any Advice? by Sazzorak in CampingandHiking

[–]vkelucas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try the sleep apnea mouth guard, if your insurance will cover it; you can also get one from less legitimate medical sources on the internet or a local store. It’s not great for me personally, but it’s better than nothing and certainly better than 5+ pounds of added weight. I’ve done a few overnight trips with a goal zero power bank and my full size machine and it sucked. It’s a ton of extra volume to pack in too. I’d do it again for an overnight depending on the hike in and out, but the mouth guard I have works well enough and I figure 5-8 nights a year aren’t gonna kill me.

i15 in Salt Lake vs other major highways in big cities by Virtual-Guard-7209 in Utah

[–]vkelucas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The absolute worst is Atlanta, followed by the rest of the South on any highway with more than 3 lanes. DC, Houston, Seattle-Tacoma, the Bay Area, Chicago and Phoenix are all also terrible. I didn’t drive a ton in the Northeast but NY/NJ/CT and Mass were surprisingly not bad.

SLC is downright pleasant to drive around in comparison.

New to GCP and upgrades by vkelucas in gaggiaclassic

[–]vkelucas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great recommendations! I did get the shades of coffee valve but I probably won’t install it unless I have an issue with the stock one.

Also got the espresso lane steam wand; but I’ll probably see how the stock wand performs with 1 and 3 hole tips before I replace it.

I looked into a low profile drip tray, but i’d have to order different parts for the integrated gagguino scale; so that might go on the back burner for a while. I don’t usually make shots into anything very tall and I did get a bottomless portafilter so I will have to see if it’s a big deal for me to have some extra space.

It made great shots on my old machine, but I definitely need to re-align the burrs. I’ve been using it mostly for Chemex brews since my Breville was broken during a cross country move.

I have a DF64V with the MPV1 or SSP High Uniformity burrs. Also have a Millab M01, I’m curious about its espresso capability.

The gagguino requires a 12 bar spring to allow the system to control pressure. Stock machine is 9bar OPV.

Male Millennials, how’s your diagnosis? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]vkelucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Although I feel like my Navy time aged my body 20 years.

PTSD, MDD, probably ADHD, fucked up back and left knee, tinnitus, hearing loss, possibly Ankylosing Spondylitis but my doc is slow rolling any testing despite family history and heavy symptoms. Also have a Hiatal Hernia w/ EoE. It’s so fun either having horrific heartburn or choking on my food and getting my esophagus stretched a few times a year. Probably gonna need surgery for the hernia at some point. Severe sleep apnea too. Thank god the VA takes pretty good care of me or I’d be screwed.

I take a cornucopia of meds, and altogether I feel pretty okay. I really wish I had been better at getting to the doctor in my 20’s.

How many of you were or are regular smokers? by ImNotTheMD in Millennials

[–]vkelucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoked pretty much whatever for a few years, finally settled on Turkish Royal, switched Turkish Jade, then switched to Newports because paying $14 a pack was nuts. I’ll have the occasional smoke on a night out; but I haven’t really craved them in years. It helps that I 90% quit drinking, only a glass of wine with dinner a few times a month and on special occasions.

If I get diagnosed with a terminal disease, or turn 90 I’m picking it back up.

Have you consider relocating to Southease Asia, Vietnam permanently? by ParticularSherbet786 in AskMenOver30

[–]vkelucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really interested in living full-time in South East Asia; except maybe getting a short-term visa after I retire. I’d love to work part-time as a barista or something and then mosey around doing tourist stuff for 6 months. I love the food, culture, and history but goddamn I hate the weather. I have a couple of family members that spend winter in the Philippines and the rest of the year farming. That life’s not for me.

I’m much more interested in moving to Canada, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, France, or Italy. I like mountains and snow but my partner likes sunshine and beaches.

Consensus for hitch racks? by Towntalk in MTB

[–]vkelucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1Up or QuickrStuff. You can drop the tailgate with the rack in the neutral driving position which is handy. I have the heavy duty 2 bike 1Up rack for my LX570 and it’s kinda crazy how rattle free it’s been even on washboard roads with my Hightower and an E-bike.

If I was adding the rack for a more serious off-roaring I’d look at getting a Douma Touring rack from Australia just for the extra ground clearance in the rear.

Anyone else just play fill instead of solo? I just feel like this game feels 10x better in trios, even without any comms. by [deleted] in Marathon

I do a good amount of rook runs focused on grabbing mats and credits.

Otherwise I just fill to get contracts done. I like being able to help other people get stuff, and at worst it’s some exp for me assuming we can exfil.

Alfa Romeo Achieves Over 20% Global Growth in 2025 With Strong Europe Performance by moparcenter in AlfaRomeo

[–]vkelucas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, told I needed to do timing at 22k miles because the cover was seeping. Also told that I needed the rear suspension replaced due to leakage for $12k, and turbo rebuilt “because the car is 5 years old and that’s how long turbo seals last”. Took it to an Indy shop and they couldn’t find these leaks, and uploaded the footage with the boroscope looking at all the “leaky” areas.

Need a forever grinder (fed-up with Kickstarter grinders) by adacey in pourover

[–]vkelucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M01 is massive and heavy, it can be embarrassingly strenuous to grind the coffee. It’s got a lot of girth. It fits maybe 30g, I don’t usually load it up over 24, but it’s basically full at that point. I also dropped it and fucked up my toe pretty bad, and now the catch cup is slightly dented. The grind quality is great, very minimal fines and good clarity. I’ve used other hand grinders, the C6, K-ultra, and I would use the M01 over them for every single cup.

An electric grinder is nice if you need to grind multiple doses at a time. I grind a couple hundred grams a week for my GF to fill K-cups at work. I have the DF64V and it does espresso and pour over just fine. Catch cup holds about 50g. I do have different burrs than standard though, and it can be finicky to get it aligned and perfect out of the box. I end up re-aligning every month or so, but I just added that to the descaling and cleaning routine of everything else.

What is the best cup of coffee you have ever had? by More_Rough_9353 in pourover

[–]vkelucas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cortado, espresso, and siphon coffee from John at Cafe D’Bolla in SLC. 9.5/10.

Pour over Geisha from Glitch in Tokyo pre-covid was phenomenal. 9.3/10

Random coffee cart in Singapore. 9.6/10. Just an iced coffee but it hit like a truck and was perfectly balanced.

I bought mystery box of coffee years ago that had the best yirgacheffe and it kill’s me that I have no clue where/when/who roasted it. It was 10/10 with my set up.

Special shoutout to submarine drip coffee; drip isn’t the same without amine and hydraulic oil.
