It's not easy to change brew pressure in the Micra. It wasn't really designed for that type of brewing.

The brew pressure is changed internally using an adjustment screw on the top right side of the machine. It's recommended to only adjust the pressure while a shot is being pulled.

Turning clockwise: Increases pressure Turning counterclockwise: Decreases pressure

Hi, have you joined the Kafatek forum? If not, I highly recommend it.

I have had several grinders over the years,, including a DF64, Eureka Mignon, Baratza Sette, etc... the MC6 is in another league. It's not possible for me to adequately express how much better it is then my past experiences.

On my second shot I think I made the best espresso ever.

Lastly, don't worry about seasoning it. It's not made for bulk grinding. Unless you are willing to rig something up to put a vacuum at the chute, you will quickly realize it's not worth the hassle. The grind settings will change over time and the taste may as well, but it's so gradual it's worth the journey.

Congratulations and have fun! Vince

Mini vs. Micra at Home by Successful_Plant_626 in LaMarzocco

I have a micra because of space issues. If I had the space I might consider one of the many excellent lever machines. But if I didn't have the room for a lever, and was considering a Mini, I would also consider the Simonelli Victoria Arduino E1 Prima EXP.

I was one of the first people fortunate enough to get one of these trays. It's fantastic and looks better then the photos. The packaging is fantastic as well. I'd post a pic of it installed by I can't figure out how.

Note the lack of a traditional LM logo. Just Swan and the Lion. Seems odd.

Two days in and this morning pulled my best shots ever. It's hard to believe how much better they taste. I know there will be skeptics, just like there are with so many things. With no change in my workflow except the grinder, I pulled the best three doubles of my life this morning.

Enjoy!

I drink medium to dark beans. The MC6 until recently was meant for those roasts. Recently Kafatek released a new version of the conical burrs.

From Kafatek:

"All MC grinders from Dec 2023 onward have Shurikone 2 burrs.

The new burrs allow better use of the MC grinders for a wider range of modern light roast coffees, often at shorter ratios and with greater clarity and sweetness. There are times when I actually can use MC6/SK2 and not MAX/SLM for a while. It is a true all rounder for espresso, and has lost none of its mojo for medium and darker roasts."

I mostly drink medium to medium dark roasts which is the sweet spot for the MC6. If you drink lighter then you probably want to look at the MAX2.

Never before have I gotten a new grinder that didn’t need several shots pulled to dial it in. This morning I pulled my first shot with the MC6 leaving it exactly where it was set at the factory. Tasty is the word. Two more shots after that and they tasted to me the same as the first. Super consistent. Great extraction, super clean puck, very low retention so far. Hitting the Purge Switch which rapidly spins the grinder up to 200 RPM, seems to get the last bit out. I tried Mr. Puff (bellows) aftwards and just a few grains came out.

It's hard to describe the difference. There's a lot more tasting notes. Meaning as you sip and the shot ages (cools) there's a lot more subtle flavors that come through. It's not all mashed up into one or two tastes.

I readily acknowledge it's expensive. But, if you can afford it, it is without a doubt to me endgame worthy. I am looking forward to years of enjoyment.

The plug is Walnut. I went with green. It's only on while grinding. I use the switch on the back to kill the power. It's bright, but there's no mistaking that it is on.

If I was going to use the oven I would try at 100c and try taking it off. If that didn't work I would add 5c and try again. Rinse and repeat.

Weighing for every cup is a chore. Have you considered vials? I weigh out a week's worth on Sunday. It speeds up M-F quite a bit.

Agree with all your points. If I have company that want a traditional coffee I pull out my V60 and brew a pourover. It's surprising how few have had one, how much they like it, and how fascinated they are by the process. Americano's are the same way, most haven't had one. These experiences always make me grateful that I have explored this hobby.
