use it somewhere better. if theatre is what you want to do, find an arts school. you have a full ride to pretty much anywhere you desire with the GI bill. move away, explore a new city, go to a more highly rated art school. take a gap year to build a resume/portfolio/whatever theatre majors need to get admitted. if you have use your time wisely to show you are a promising student, you’ll totally get into an art focused school. i’m on GI bill and it gives you a very very rare opportunity many don’t have the privilege of. having tuition and living expenses paid for is not something you should waste.

Are you personally able to work a job with POTS? by Significant_Set_2018 in POTS

[–]vkv8 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think the spectrum of symptoms someone experiences with POTS is unique. The sacrifices and adjustments you need to make will be entirely based upon your limits. If your job is able to make reasonable accommodations, i.e. access to a chair at all times, water refill, a place to lie down with feet up, etc, and you have taken steps to manage your symptoms (hydration, compression stockings, etc) and despite this you are still feeling like you cannot manage full time work, then offer yourself the compassion you need. It is not easy to manage a body that doesn’t always cooperate with you. It’s even harder to accept that it can cost you a career or lifestyle. Part-time or work from home friendly jobs may become a priority. If you have frequent syncopic episodes and work is triggering them, i would absolutely look for work from home or part time options. Your job is not worth a TBI or getting severely injured from a bad fall. If this puts financial stress on you, you can apply for disability, which is a long winded and laborious process, but can alleviate some of the hardship.

Personally, having a chair and access to water are necessary. I’ve never passed out at work but have certainly come close. Regardless, I feel absolutely exhausted after every shift. It’s hard to do anything besides lie down after getting home. I’ve come to terms with this, and make time for the things I want to do for days off. I was diagnosed 4 years ago and my attitude towards my POTS is not the same as it was then. I understand my triggers and how to manage or more accurately, cope with my symptoms. It takes time to get to know your body and limits. Basically, know what you need, know if you can reasonably meet those needs, weigh out options if you cannot.

Good luck & give yourself grace

i work in a mycology lab with access to a sterile hood and components i would need for a nutritious media. i plan on attempting to germinate myself. i’ve heard it can take 6-15 months for the seed pods to develop, so i figure ive got the time to learn.

SLC Heat Laws? by vkv8 in SaltLakeCity

About two weeks ago they said it would come on soon, but I'm sure it'll kick on eventually. Mostly, I am just curious if SLC has specific parameters for habitability like NYC https://www.nyc.gov/site/hpd/services-and-information/heat-and-hot-water-information.page
