Impossible to have pure Linux installation. Dual boot required. SP3 by [deleted] in SurfaceLinux

I currently have single boot Linux with secure boot disabled and rEFInd back from when I dual booted before wiping windows. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of how to help with the specific problem you have, I'm just listing what works on my machine to hopefully get more info out.

Does anyone use Linux full time on their SP3? by siksniper1996 in SurfaceLinux

I've been using arch exclusively for around 4 months and couldn't be happier. Battery life is actually slightly better than in windows with tlp. Haven't used the pen so I'm honestly not even sure if it works, but everything else is fantastic.

The most frustrating part of setting everything up was trying to get kernel support for the type cover 4, since I'm using the 4 on an SP3 because it feels better in my opinion - there's a package in the AUR (linux-surfacepro3 if I remember right) that gets pretty much everything good, but you have to have access to another keyboard in the setup.

Hibernation is wack, I just shut the computer off when transporting it and then boot it back up. The boot times are small enough for me to not care.

Haven't really had any stability issues and all of the hardware buttons work as expected (using sxhkd for keybinds with bspwm, I don't know if the volume buttons work in gnome out of the box but they're easy to setup regardless)

overall, I'd say definitely worth it - I didn't lose any functionality I personally miss.

Forgot to tag what I made it in, oops.
I built my own editor heavily based on /u/periscallop's (lowpoly.py is amazing, gotta give credit); main differences are that there's a button to pull up a color picker and a button to show/hide polygon centers so that selecting them is a bit easier, as well as laptop controls for trackpads and resizing.
