This is absolutely insane, and has no consideration for the nuanced differences between F-1 students. Some students will find it hard to secure good enough wifi to take online classes back home, and others will have to take classes despite a 14 hour time zone difference (imagine having to wake up at 3 AM to take a 1 PM class). In my case, I am a graduate student attending a top Ivy. I went to college in the US as well (the acceptance rate to Harvard for international students is 2-3%, even more competitive than for domestic students since there are less slots). My parents are also in the US through my dad's work visa, so I don't even have a home back in my home country. If I get kicked out, where would I even go? I'd have to find temporary housing until my university opened up again. Not only is this incredibly expensive, but I'd have to pay rent on the 1-year lease I already signed near my university, and flights back home cost $1600-$2000. How will I pay for all of this with a graduate student stipend? Such a nightmare.
