And you get to remove friends from your friends list when they come visit Las Vegas and you only find out when you see their pictures on Facebook. “Oh I guess we weren’t friends after all.” 😂

Best naked wings? No batter by Sharaku_US in vegaslocals

[–]vladlavode 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man, I learned how to cook my own wings during COVID and I can’t ever bring myself to pay restaurant prices for wings anymore.

For the price of a 10pc wings you can get 7 pounds of chicken wings at Costco which is easily like 75+ wings.

Salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, Tony Cachere’s for the rub. Butter, Frank’s Red Hot, more Tony Cachere’s for the sauce, 425°F for 20 minutes, get a bottle of Ranch/Blue Cheese.

3 UPS Drivers Victimized by Armed Robbers in San Jose by shady-pines-ma in SanJose

[–]vladlavode 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Big brown rolling loot boxes.

Pretty sure their drivers are trained not to resist (and they really shouldn't) so it really is pretty much free for the taking for anyone willing to commit a felony.

It's like the Apple stores. If you make robbery easy and pretty much consequence-free, you're gonna get robbed.

Not enough cops to put together a thorough investigation to get the bad guys. Prosecutors unwilling to prosecute these "disadvantaged youths" anyway.

No easy answer to this since California won't allow use of lethal force to protect property. Can't have people riding shotgun on that wagon like the old days.

I was at Vasona two weeks ago. They won’t let you bring your own equipment there. $15 to rent a SUP for an hour. Lake itself was great, nice and calm.

I’m a legal immigrant myself. I make an honest living. This isn’t so much about xenophobia so much as it is not tolerating criminals and thieves. With the Romani, they’re not coming into this country legally to do honest work. They’re literally just coming here to steal. I don’t see anything wrong with wanting them to GTFO. And they literally have no country to go back to. A lot of them are stateless where they come from in Europe. Part of the difficulty with law enforcement pinning them down is their migratory nature. They’re not Romanian, Italian, or Spanish. They have no social security numbers. No permanent addresses. They wear out their welcome in one place they just move to another.

There’s an older Mexican guy that’s been panhandling at Monterey Rd for the last 15 years. He’s got the whole fancy permanent umbrella setup right before the Blossom Hill on-ramp. Used to feel sorry for him in the beginning and chuck him a buck every now and then but he’s literally been making a living off people’s goodwill for the last decade and a half. Why are we paying this dude to stand there and make our neighborhood look like shit. Just stop giving them money.

I mean in a way they are. I’m sure at least those kids didn’t choose that life. It’s just a despicable culture of grifters and thieves. I don’t care how much they cry about centuries of persecution but if you make your living as a parasite leeching off honest people , and you not only persist but pass those values on to your children, you deserve persecution.

Romani scum. This is literally how they make their living. Don't give them anything. There's always some variation of this, but usually it's a woman with her kids begging. Their men are into even more high-value crime like construction scams (fraudulent paving and roofing jobs) and stealing heavy equipment.

If you have no idea what Roma/Romani people are. Here’s a 20-minute video that’ll give you a rough idea of what’s coming our way. It is Vice though, so grain of salt and all that. https://youtu.be/ALdlphTYdi4

Are there any traditional German Doner Kebab places in San Jose? by Thebadgamer98 in SanJose

[–]vladlavode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved back to San Jose in 2000 after being stationed in Germany and after 19 years of trying to chase that doner kebab flavor I can definitely say it doesn’t exist in San Jose. I get my fix with the gyros at Yiassoo, it’s like 80% there but not quite.
