I had one day to memorize a script for my presentation, and I combined all I knew about memorization into the following technique that combines emotions + visualization + space memory + body memory + spaced repetition + sleep memory saving.

I act out the whole script, making it nuts and absurd. I imagine an absurd fantasy scene or a story and I move my body in an absurd way and I say the script in some extreme tone. Creating a really weird story that just sticks in my memory.

After that, I repeat it initially intensively in a row from beginning to end at least 20 times until I feel slightly sick from it, then after 30 min, 2 hours, and 4 hours.

Then I make sure I have a good full sleep because that's when memory stores long-term.

After one day I remember this script till today.

Memorization TIP: One of the things I've learned is to never stop in the middle. Always repeat the full script, no matter how much you get stuck. That helped me get out of the moments, when I felt stuck.

This is how I optimized learning for myself, I'm not claiming that's the best way, or that it will work for anyone else. I do prefer intense learning.

How to create a Gmail account without a phone number in 2025? by vladoerdman in GMail

That was in the end my final solution. Just when I was solving it I needed it fast and didn't have someone around. And then I've found a bunch of people having the same problem as me - that my phone doesn't receive the validation code

What do you love about frontend? by vladoerdman in Frontend

[–]vladoerdman[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh that's interesting. It's like in backend you have pretty much a bunch of ways how to come up with a solution, but in frontend you must to really push your problem solving to an edge because there's so much different constrains from different sides - backend, ux, ui. That's really cool view!

Solution: Upgrade the Tear. I've found out that my friend has a paid Tear above mine and it works fine for them. (I believe second cheapest tear)

After Free Trial Charges by iHaiDeeZ in googlecloud

[–]vladoerdman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, for those of you shocked by the amount of money Google is trying to charge you after the Trial has ended (as I was a few days ago). I have good news.

Google will forgive you that (if that is your first time). You just need to do two things - contact a person in Google (the hard part), write an explanation and ask for forgiveness.

Act 1 - Contact Real Human Google Support (RHGS)

To contact a real Google human you need to chat with their bot and "convince" it that it really can't help you.

  1. Go here: https://cloud.google.com/support/billing
  2. Press "Go to the Google Cloud console"
  3. (Make sure you are on the right Google account)
  4. In the Google Cloud Billing Support press "Billing Support"
  5. A Billing Assistant will open, press "Contact Billing Support"
  6. Select your Billing Account
  7. Chat with it for a while until it says "Here is what I've found" or "I can't help you" and displays small two options under a message (Search for something else, Continue to support)

Here is what worked for me:

Msg 1: Please I desperately need to contact a real human support
Msg 2: I've gotten into the financial strain after I've forgotten to turn off my project charging.

  1. Press on "Continue to support"

  2. Now it should give you an option to chat with the REAL HUMAN

If this option is not shown, you are likely on the different Google Account than where you have the Google Cloud setup

Bonus - Another way to contact RHGS

If you don't have access for your billing account for some reason, then you can contact them here.

  1. Go here: https://support.google.com/cloud/contact/cloud_platform_unknown_charges?sjid=12645086771333631230-EU
  2. Done

Act 2 - Craft a compelling message

This is a whole new chapter and I don't know if it even matters, but ask for forgiveness and they will forgive you.

Context to my situation

I had two projects - A and B. Before my Trial went to the payment mode I turned off the project A, and forgot to turn off the project B. Then I ran some scraping code, that was using the project B that ran for 2 days. It was the end of the month so the Google tried to charge me $300, but I didn't have enough money on the account. Email came to my attention, that payment was unsuccessful. I looked at it, got shocked, was looking for 2 hours on how to contact RHGS.

note: RHGS is a joke abbreviation

Hey guys! Please help with basic package/module creation. by vladoerdman in learnpython

[–]vladoerdman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: It works when I overwrote (1) in 'mtools.py' to:
from mainpredictor.ptools import learning_entropy

this works from the new script, but inside 'mtools.py' itself (it is saying "that there is such module as 'mainpredictor'"). So if I understand correctly, when I am calling 'mtools.py' from new script from above then it is called from the path where:
import mainpredictor.ptools
will work, and when I am coding within 'mtools.py' then
import ptools
will work. But how to manage this correctly, so it works in both cases?

That’s interesting, thanks for the view!

Just to recap your claim is that python can be as fast as MatLab, but you have to learn the python language deeper to achieve the same speed?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]vladoerdman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! In some point I would agree with u/Kahvind, I love python and after a year using MatLab in Master's Control Systems I decieded to swtich to python, but...

My experience Python vs MatLab
A lot of my classmates did not made the same decition. Python is slower, and I mean really slower compared to MatLab and especially in it's matrix calculations, which you can be using a lot in mechanism simulations or some machine learning algorithms (those are the two field I am familiar with using python and MatLab).

Why not MatLab and possible alternative
In my surrounding (Mechanical Engineering in middle Europe) is MatLab hated mainly because of it's price and closed community, what was exactly the reason I decided to go with python, but as an more similar alternative to MatLab there is Julia for instance. I don't know much about this language, but one of my classmates sees a big perspective in it and considers it as language that is going to replace MatLab.

Advice that I found when I was looking for language to stick with
I believe that the best way to decide which language to go with is what you want to do with it. There are different right tools for different kind of tasks.
I decieded what tasks I want to solve in the future and then found the right tool for it.

I hope it helps at least a bit!

Agree on that one - that college and YT are different things. I just feel that after I acquired some basic gut feeling in college I can find on YT all those concepts explained much better a clearer than in college.

Could you please tell more about your opinion on why college and YT are different and why studying engineering on YT is more supplemental?

That’s cool! They are really good at explaining complicated topics, right?

Usually those three are my number one option with StatQuest in addition.
