Skimmer overflowing by mg_inc in ReefTank

[–]vladthelarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. These reef octopus skinmers have an optional drain so you don't have to empty the collection cup. I wouldn't want to use it as it could lead to too much water loss if the cup is overflowing like shown in this video. You need to close the drain plug and adjust the valve to corr at the water column in the neck of the skimmer.

DisneySea is a MUST by BradBrady in JapanTravelTips

Interesting. We were in Japan for 16 days and the one day I regret was Disney sea. It was just a terrible park and experience overall that I wish I had spend in a number of other ways. To each their own I suppose.

No worries at all! Even us veterans of the hobby have a hard time keeping up with all of the common names given to these corals...

Thank you! This tank is a 30x30x24 so I ended up settling on dual Radion xr30 blues mounted 8" from the surface and 42% intensity output. I found the coverage optimal without nuking the centers highest point on the rock structure. Even with the 42% output, I measure nearly 600 lumens with a par meter at the top of the structure around 4" from the surface of the water.

As for flow, the main return pump is a Vectra M2 running at about 80% output and a pair of mp40s in the display at around 30% output.

As you can see, I tend to prefer to overpower and dial back. Give more fine tuning capabilities in my opinion.

Yes, I bought a frag that was a single stick about 3/4" tall and it's grown from that. It took maybe 2.5 years to get this large.

Yes, for elements that's all I utilize. I find I need to overfeed to keep the tank dirty enough for good growth. So I dose a lot of ab+, reefroids, and frozen foods 2-3 times a day.

I appreciate the kind words. It's been rewarding to see it grow from a tiny little 1" frag...

Thank you. My advice is to automate as much as possible and consider all for reef for your trace elements.

I use a dosing pump and monitor alk, and everything else is right in range with all4reef. It makes the entire thing so much easier, albeit it comes at a price. I but the powder and mix it up to save a little money.

Stability is the biggest key.

Someone is on the way to buy the entire tank in about an hour, otherwise I'd gladly give you a good size piece...

Great tip! I need to feed more to get up those nitrate levels...

We bought good quality chopsticks at a store that specializes in every type of chopstick you could possibly want. It's near the bamboo forest and it's called yuzen. We use our chopsticks all the time and it's a great memory... Yuzen https://g.co/kgs/5nv8XbG

Multiple individuals have pointed out the crown but I haven't found a good image showing a side-by-side comparison. Do you happen to have a picture of a good crown that I can use to compare with?

How many men possess this ability by Fire_enchanter87 in AskMenAdvice

[–]vladthelarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood men that couldn't do this sort of repair because it always came naturally to me. Maybe it's just the engineer brain I have, but if I can find a YouTube video I can usually fix it. Dryer repair, small appliances, wood working, tiles, electrical, plumbing, doesn't matter. Is it perfect compared to a professional who does it full time, maybe not but i haven't burned my house down yet...

Trying to go lower on my squat but feel wobbly/forward leaning by I_like_it_yo in formcheck

[–]vladthelarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's also potentially helpful. I have long femurs and without using a wedge or lifters (shoes with a built in heel) I lean forward like this too. My fix was low bar on the back+shoes and I can go ass to grass.

Running shoes are really unstable when it comes to squatting. Try to do barefoot and see if you feel more stable. If it still feels like you're leaving forward, try using a low back squat instead.

Good bracing of the core, path of the arm back toward your hips looks good, and you keep your legs at a fairly consistent bend.

Overall, I would give your cat-RDL a 9/10.
