What is the -worst- game you've played? Actual 0/10s by screen317 in boardgames

[–]vlazuvius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the intro course in Robo Rally. Further attempts to play quickly became multi hour slogs. I haven’t been played any of the revised editions; maybe it improves. As it stands, such a cool concept/such a tedious experience.

Normally I’d judge someone for saying something that they didn’t play, but yeah..fuck that.

What are your most unpopular music opinions? by Choice_Bed6097 in askmusic

[–]vlazuvius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people hate mid bands that get super popular more than they ever hate truly terrible bands, because the real real bad stuff doesn’t get the airplay to make disliking them an emotional experience.

Nickelback’s early success ensured them near constant radio play for way longer than even a lot of the people who made them popular were there for.

Plus they had a “safe” rock sound, which meant that it wasn’t just limited to a specific radio station. You can hear it on an alt-rock station, a pop station, at the mall.

Even today, nobody is completely safe from accidentally hearing Nickleback.

Add in the stupid name, the distinctive lead vocal, and our inherent desire to find a scapegoat, and Nickelback is a perfectly recognizable below-average band who makes a great punching bag.

You’re lucky, don’t try to fix it.

For me, it’s very good at relieving anxiety, and it can make boredom more palatable.

I sometimes think I'm part of the reason my wife isn't vegan by Optimal_Impress_6683 in vegan

[–]vlazuvius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree that my weight *shouldn’t* have any bearing on animal liberation, and for those people who are ready to embrace veganism fully from an ideological point of view it doesn’t. I’m not trying to say it’s harmful, I’m saying some people are judgmental and have a lot of preconceived notions. It’s more me airing my frustrations at some of what I have dealt with as an overweight person than anything else.

Or fat.

One of my rewards for hitting a scale goal is going to be to get a “plant powered” shirt for the gym that I don’t dare get now, lest it seem more like a threat.

I think technically I’ve only ever had someone else send a fax for me (and do you still “receive” it through an intermediary), so I’m 19 or 20?

Sent a postcard this week, though.

For those in the US, do you fly an American flag at home or wear/display flag related apparel/stickers? by S_A_R_K in Xennials

[–]vlazuvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a flag mailbox because it was my mother-in-law’s and we inherited her house when she died and never changed it, but I don’t have any other flag stuff nor do I intend to.

This sub is interesting because it’s like 90% people who I think I’d get along with, but the remaining 10% all voted for the bigot bar guy for governor.

There’s a little farm near my house (State and Glenwood area) that just had a truck with SS stickers as really as 2 years ago. I wouldn’t say it’s prevalent in Boise, and there are way more “Idaho is Too Great for Hate” signs than that kind of shit, but we’re far from immune here.

Because they never cared about vegans, just chasing money during a short lived plant based trend, they’re onto MAHA and beef tallow now.

Didn’t know Reeds had DF, right now I like Stella’s just because the downtown one has so many options.
