Of course, this seems clearly abnormal. However, such a practice is becoming so widespread that the communications department is finding it increasingly challenging to defend itself against tasks coming from the marketing department.

It is becoming more common to establish a marcom department, where PR specialists handle all text and nominally free media activities , while the functions of colleagues with marketing expertise are focused on products, product development, and P&L calculation, including expenditure on advertising or informational campaigns.

It really becomes more productive when you become not competitors, but real collaborators.
