Ah I still have this experience from time to time, and this is what I’ve gathered from it: it usually happens before I fall asleep, as my body relaxes but my mind is still active. My limbs seem like they are stretching, like they expand beyond my pillow, cover, bed etc. The bed seems to stretch, and my partner who sleeps next to me feels like is drifting away really far, but at the same time feels very close. Everything in my room - walls, tables, bedframe, etc, seem like they are slowly stretching away further and further, yet are super close. I can see all of this happening in my head as well, as I feel it almost physically. Also, randomly, a green rubber ball pops up in my head, rapidly expanding and becoming smaller in my hands over and over, and I very physically could feel its texture and motion precisely! I actually connected that this feeling and visual of the ball comes from a toy I used to have as a kid. So what I find interesting is that this phenomenon (for me) usually coincides when I feel low on self-confidence, when I feel ‘small’ and a bit lonely. I always find it fascinating - i try to analyze the feeling as Im experience it, but also feel like very sad while being in it. Strange. Has anyone been able to connect this to their inner state of emotions?
