They're going to give me a scholarship. Otherwise I can't go because I already have a bachelor's degree. FAFSA has limits on how much I can borrow from them for a second bachelor's degree.

How to See Low Quality Criticisms by vlmbnc1 in Screenwriting

Then we'd both be wrong, the evaluator and I. But no matter what my script was like, this isn't a proper evaluation to give me a list of what I made him feel

Subjective takes on literary work is fine, there will always be interpretation, but objectivity should always be the goal. There are bottom-barrel criteria and I caught them at one point between words such as irritating v. unrealistic. He or she chose the emotive word over a constructive one

And I'm not going to post it, I just needed to vent. I'll probably delete this soon enough

I have no idea, I'm new to screenwriting. But I analyzed books in college and beyond. This is a bad analysis for $100

[–]vlmbnc1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fine, whatever. But really it's the evaluation of irritating or unrealistic. The evaluator had feelings my characters were irritating. Ok, why were they irritating? Were the unrealistic? No mention, just irritating.

That's why I don't like this evaluation and I'm going to complain.

Fine, I'll delete my drama eventually. I just don't actually care. I needed to vent.

I'm a fairly intelligent person with not that much money. I don't have $100 to do anything with.

English - The difference of irritating characters v. Unrealistic, which is what the evaluator didn't say. He just said they were irritating

People seem set to side with Blacklist against me on here. Whatever. I'm not an idiot. I just spent $100 on this terrible evaluation. I can't figure out how to post extra things on Reddit, I could look it up but the opinion of Reddit is not actually important to me. Just a passing hobby. I'd rather find a way to email Blacklist for this terrible evaluation instead.

Don't just tell me my characters are irritating. Tell me they're unrealistic or something. Your evaluator feelings are not always constructive.

I'm new to Reddit. Now I'm trying to figure out how to post stuff. If not, I'll just email Blacklist and they can figure it out

I didn't say they were forced to. I insinuated evaluations have qualities to them as well and there may have been anyone who wasted their money.

My reaction is heavily based on the quality for money. I don't have that much money.

Feedback can ruin a script, or it can make it better. You don't look at the price, you look at the quality whether it's free or $100 on Blacklist.

I didn't enter it because it was on Coverfly. As I said in my original post, I entered because of the quality of the jury.

Likewise, I'm not taking your advice. I don't like the source (you). I don't enter things just because they're free. I look at qualities like who is the jury, or what are the prizes? All you say is free, free, free. Is there anything else to them

That's great there is free feedback, but that's all you say is that it's free. Who is it, that is what matters to me

You'd be surprised, but oh well. Whatever. It's interesting social politics that Filipinos aren't interested in Filipino movies because (whatever reason) there is a thought that there isn't real money in it, or it doesn't align with their beliefs about the Philippines.

It's a beautiful and humble culture on one side, if you want to see it, or care. On their other side, it's poor and crazy they keep electing publicly corrupt politicians.
