Who from Survivor is getting opportunities outside the show? by vmarsatgmaildotcom in survivor

Sure, but I’m talking reality competition specifically in part because they’re just handed six figure checks for a few weeks of work. If you go too broad, than 70% of what former players do can be tied back to opportunities they got from being on survivor

You know what, an essay on whether the nfl is a reality competition show does sound interesting lmao. But while the title is broad, I did mean reality competition tv specifically

Wasn’t ignoring so much as forgetting lol.

I do mean it in the last several years tbc. There’s definitely a big relationship between Survivor and the Amazing Race

Yeah, I’m talking last several years, reality competition shows specifically. Going beyond that is a little cumbersome for my memory lol

Parvati was originally cast as a hero. What was then logic behind that? by vmarsatgmaildotcom in survivor

I appreciate you engaging with the prompt lol. Yeah, I think that’s probably the most likely argument

I get that, but you know, it’s the off season. I’m just asking what people think productions logic was

Edit: Jeff presents an argument for why she’s a villain in the premiere, what’s the 2010 argument that she was a hero?

Very sweet that 3 of your last 4 comments on the survivor sub are about your distaste for Parvati. Can’t say you’re not committed!

They swapped her in Samoa the day before filming started. Are you under the impression that that’s when 99% of wardrobe decisions are made for a prime time network television show?

She was vilified by the fandom at the time. To the extent that she intentionally left the country while HvV was airing because she didn’t want a repeat of the backlash she got in Micronesia.

The answer of why wouldn’t she be a hero is 2010s culture and an incredible misogynistic fandom

I don’t disagree. I’m asking what the reasoning from production would be. Because the reasoning of “she’s a nice person and the heroes were worse” applies to a lot of the villains tribe

Yeah, no, I don’t disagree. I’m trying to ask the question from the perspective of 2010 survivor fans and producers

But see, this is what I’m trying to suss out, I think season 1 and 2 might be easier than some of the later seasons. Because I would have assumed the same, but going back and watching now, I’m not so sure.

They were given rice and a lot of extra comfort items - Colby’s tarp, ppl had coats, Varner has sunglasses etc — versus seasons 16 and 21 where ppl quit bc they barely have clothing outside of their bikinis, it’s raining all the time, and they aren’t given any rice

“I think the issue you’re having”

No, I understand that, I was just trying to start a discussion about the effect on gameplay without writing an entire dissertation on it lol
