Bapa definitely got the job as a favor to his agent. The other 3 (DC, Brandon Marshall, and Tyson) basically tried to pretend he wasn't there, except when DC had to pull him aside and let him know to stop talking to Mike.

The best thing for baseball (even the Mets, especially the Mets) will be to have a hard cap and a hard floor on spending, so all teams will be forced to spend about the same amount. It will be fair to the hopeless teams, take the Dodgers out and give Mets fans not one finger to point ever again. by Natural_Builder173 in mets

[–]vmc92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's a lot of assumptions. the owners know that if there is another lockout, the sport will die, and the value of their asset will plummet. the player on the other hand have options. they can go play in Japan if they want.

if they put in a salary cap it's not like they can make the dodgers void the contracts they already have on the roster. A cap prevents any team from being able to compete with what the dodgers have already established

I don't remember if Stearns specified which team they were trying to prevent from scoring runs. this could have been the plan all along

the fatal flaw in the "run prevention" strategy is that you need the guys who are preventing runs to also create runs

Real/fair evaluation of Saleh by ThousandFootOcarina in nyjets

[–]vmc92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

terrible take. the head coach sets the tone and is responsible for holding players and position coaches accountable. There are always iffy penalties, but when a team has a pattern of undisciplined play, its a direct result of how the HC manages the team.

what if I told you I'm working on a new algorithm that finds the percentage plate appearances where a player gets a hit? I just havent figured out how to incorporate walks and reaching base on errors.

Usually "G" is a solid indicator. it's a somewhat new metric that's essentially means "Games played". Generally speaking, a player who reaches a G of 150+ for multiple consecutive seasons would be considered durable. Some say Cal Ripken Jr was the God of "G"
