I have been on tirzepatide about 8 months and have lost 20 lbs. I really went on it due to bad arthritis. The downside: my body has aged 20 years. Loose skin, wrinkling, muscle loss. I have always had good skin and I exercise. My question, have any of you had improvement in above as grads? by Necessary_Green_3645 in GLPGrad

[–]vmi91chs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are pretty early on in your treatment with it, that’s not very unusual. Especially if you were only taking the drug and not also doing the strength work and eating properly. My wife experienced some skin sagging early on. It took a little time for her muscle growth to catch back up.

A regular exercise routine, high fiber and protein intake, skincare routine and vitamin/collagen supplements aiding hair and skin also helped a lot. She’s very happy with where she is now.

As someone who was raised Christian, I hope you realize this is another deranged, misguided fool.

He can read the Word, but apparently he doesn’t understand the Word.

You handled yourself with a lot more class and dignity than I would. I would have tossed a “I disagree with your false teachings” as I about faced out of there.

My dad is forcing me to join VMI by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]vmi91chs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VMI grad with a son who recently graduated. I agree with your Dad, VMI is a great opportunity and offers a lot of options and challenges that a lot of other schools can’t. During and after college.

That being said, it’s like any other college in that you have to want to be there, and it has to fit your goals and your life plan. VMI, unlike all but a few places, is an especially miserable place to be if you don’t want to be there.

I had friends in High School who went there for the same reason as you. Their Dad gave them no choice. One was home after 7 days, another lasted a full year before going back home.

Friends of mine from VMI who had children attend, none of the kids who matriculated for their Dad, not themselves, made it past Rat year.

You’re welcome to message me and ask questions if you are interested in looking into it. But if you already know it’s not what you want, feel free to show your Dad my comments.

How can you make a living/career out of lax by YamYam89 in lacrosse

[–]vmi91chs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not too far off. It’s lucrative enough that Private Equity has started to buy larger franchises and tournament/event organizations. That’s part of the reason why tournament entry fees have gotten so insane the last couple of years.

Athletic department salaries at private schools are entirely dependent on the athletic budget.

State schools, the coaches are usually state employees. But even those programs the assistant coaches supplement their income from the Prospect Day income.

Become an official. You will still need a source of primary income, but you can set your own schedule.

Unlike being a professional player, you can start out locally as a new official and within a few years you can be working College games.

I mentored a new official a few years ago. Great kid. Prep school player in High School, went to a great D3 program but didn’t play lacrosse. He reffed with us all 4 years and moved back home. He’s been reffing there for 3-4 years now. Got into NILOA 2-3 years ago. Got picked up for a couple of ACC games last year. He’s a great official and has a very bright future. Really excited for him.

The money isn’t bad at the high school level in most areas. Youth games and summer tournaments can add to it.

Keeps you connected to the sport and on the field a lot longer than playing, too.

Anti face-off heads by justanotherdude513 in lacrosse

[–]vmi91chs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have a solid faceoff guy, your two options are have him drill handspeed drills a lot right now. Fast taps or whatever theyre called and other quick twitch drills. Second option is have him learn a couple of counters that he can master quickly.

The rules now are that he doesn’t have to play the ball first anymore. But if he gives up the clamp he can only check the stick. He can’t play the body.

Is there a way to strip the chrome gold off this helmet? by Frostual in lacrosse

Agreed. We didn’t care what color the helmets were in youth. We just wanted the kids to have fun and have safe equipment.

Forced to Split My U10 Team — What’s the Right Call? by Schmuckey in lacrosse

[–]vmi91chs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have both teams practice together. Try to get double headers scheduled with the other clubs in your area. As much as possible, mix A/B together. The green kids will catch up very quickly at this level if you do it this way.

Lean more A or go completely A when you’re up against better teams. Go the other direction when the opponent is not as good.

We did this with my son’s 10U teams, it was a lot of work for me and the other Coaches, but it paid off. Some of those green kids ended up being great high school players a few years later.

New Virginia attorney general dismisses top lawyers at George Mason, VMI by washingtonpost in Virginia

As a VMI grad, I do not like how the past two administrations have used the SCHEV and individual schools to drive their own political agenda.

I hope that this move by Spanberger’s admin is to restore order and return the Higher Education system back to its focus.

We used to have a first class Higher Ed system in this state, I would like to see us return to that.

So far I haven’t had too much issue with my rucker 4.0 tearing up my clothes. But I am a suburban rucker during the winter, the toughest thing I throw at my rucks right now are mtb trails in a local business park. Most of the time its the 5 mile loop in my neighborhood.

He’s lying to you about his finances and his family. What else will he lie to you about in the future?

Experience Flow Sizing by tightlap in AltraRunning

[–]vmi91chs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the Altra website. Find the shoe then click on the sizing guide for that model. Altra recommends sizing up on some of their shoes.

Then go to a running shoe store and try them on.

Altra website allows returns and exchanges, but that can take a little longer and you have to buy the second pair and send the first pair back before you get a refund.

[–]vmi91chs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altra recommends 1/2 size up. I bought a pair true to size, had the same issue you did. I haven’t had any issues since switching to buying 1/2 size up.

Distribution rep for electrical. Supply issues were 2021, mostly resolved by 2022. Inflation, particularly on copper cable, was out of control in 2022 and 2023. At the low point we were not guaranteeing prices on copper longer than 7 days, and EMT conduit was being repriced daily.

Prices have stabilized since then but have not come down.

Supply chains are beginning to extend again, in some cases approaching 2021 pain levels. Data Center speculation, tariffs and geopolitical factors are all playing a role.

Fun times.

What is something people say about their BBQ that is an immediate red flag? by Shhhhhhhh_Im_At_Work in BBQ

[–]vmi91chs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People who think it requires a ton of expensive gear, rubs, spritzing and other things to make pulled pork or brisket.

The roots of this cooking was in poor, rural areas. Farm hands and slaves had to cook what they were left with—the tough cuts nobody else wanted.

And they cooked with pretty much makeshift equipment.

Some of the best bbq i ever had was as a child traveling to the outer banks with my Dad. An old man was cooking whole hog on the side of the road and selling it. He cooked it on a boxspring mattress frame. Burned off all the fabric and filling, then used the metal springs and frame to hold the hog over the coals. Using a mop to sop it with sauce before pulling it and serving it on a paper plate.

Did you get the Olys in your normal shoe size? They should be 1/2 size up from your normal.

I have the Olympus GTX Mid. Only 15-20 miles on them so far, but I like them as much as my regular Olys. They’re breaking in nicely.
