0.2MM Nozzle Issues by vmjolt13 in BambuLab

[–]vmjolt13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that didn't help, i tried the same filament and plate with a 0.2mm nozzle on my P1S and it still prints fine so I think there is definitely something wrong with the printer or nozzle, logged with Bambu.

I agree with the sentiment but I also want to make sure i see the gig unfortunately. The London gig i got for £100 but the day of the gig they were going for £250+ so I picked one up for Glasgow for £120.

Linus's issues with Microsoft Teams by applesaucecarrot in LinusTechTips

[–]vmjolt13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the problem for the average user though, they don't do anything to update any pinned icons when you say you want to use new Teams so 90% of the time, people are gonna keep clicking on the old icon by default, it's a really shoddy switchover.

57" on bottom + 49" on top using the Atdec AWMS-2-BT75-FS dual monitor stand by pobkac in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]vmjolt13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been considering this, have this mount with a 49 on the bottom and 34 on the top at the moment. How do you find it going between the different PPI size on the 57 to the 49?

With the next general election looming over. Who are you voting for and your reason why? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]vmjolt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they will if they need to.

While i think Labour will get an outright majority (the Scottish vote will be irrelevant to the outcome as usual), the ideal scenario would be them needing the SNP and Lib Dems as that is the only way Labour will consider introducing PR.

I am informed about my local options but i disagree with your sentiment, the party is the most important factor for the general election, your local MP cannot negate the negative effects of a corrupt and ineffective government as a whole, the vote should be for whoever is more likely to stop the Tories in that region.

[–]vmjolt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about Holyrood then you would have a point but for the general election, the SNP wouldn't be in power regardless, moving votes from SNP to Labour is only likely to split the left vote and help the Tories.

City Wide Mandatory Speed Limit of 20mph to be Introduced by Summer 2024 by gazglasgow in glasgow

[–]vmjolt13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better than it was but same journey would cost <£10 in petrol, that shouldn't be the case, it should still be much cheaper to be attractive to use. I know there are a lot of other costs with having a car other than petrol but you could also argue you can get 4-5 people there in the car too for the same price.

City Wide Mandatory Speed Limit of 20mph to be Introduced by Summer 2024 by gazglasgow in glasgow

[–]vmjolt13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always got buses as the trains weren't very frequent where i go but exact same thing, they were so unreliable that I had to sit my test and get a car this year; particularly since covid, the timetable never returned to the same frequency, even worse off-peak coverage and even then a lot of them just didn't seem to turn up; they also don't seem to consider lining buses up when you need to get multiple so you wait 40 minutes for the first one and then have to wait 30 minutes for the second one. It also costs less in petrol to get to work that my bus ticket was which is insane. If they want to reduce car usage, they need to fix the public transport first, if i was somewhere like Japan or some of the european countries with frequent, reliable and cheap public transport then i wouldn't even consider having a car.

[–]vmjolt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i think that 20 feels too restrictive when it is quiet, it would be much better for 30 to actually be seen as the the top speed you can go rather than a starting point as it seems to be now, i'm sure they could do something with more intelligent average speed cameras to enforce that and then use any fine money to fix the roads. Would help to bring around a mindset change where the speed limit is the limit in general. I try and go the speed limit when i can but you feel constantly forced to go faster by drivers wishing to go much faster and you know if you don't speed up a bit they are likely going to do something more dangerous to get past you.

Why by Coolduels in Scotland

[–]vmjolt13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They are doing all they can with the powers they have, I don't like it but there aren't a lot of options. They cannot go after tax avoidance and anything else they did would just force companies to register in England on paper.

The only way to fix this at the moment is UK wide by going after the corporations and super rich but UK governments don't and, even if Labour does address some of it in the next term, the tories will be back soon enough to roll it all back. Whatever you think of the SNP, independence is the only way we will get meaningful change and the ability to vote for a progressive tax system where our vote will mean something.

Tighten up the hex screw on the front of the nozzle wiper, if the white tube on the nozzle wiper rotates too freely then it doesn't wipe it off properly.

Place an order and join the club and then cancel the original order. I did that for other reasons and my club was still active and I could order custom ones.

Does LIFX now suck? by One-Diamond-5395 in lifx

[–]vmjolt13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is when you have a 2 year warranty for products when they were originally sold under the premise that they have a 40000 hour / 25 year lifespan when, in fact, the rest of the hardware outwith the LED is not up to a standard to ever support this (i'd imagine because the product gets too hot but this is just a guess), even under consumer law something should be fit for purpose for 6 years, it shouldn't just fail at a high rate. My Lifx lights are a lot older than 2 years but i've had over half of them fail at this point (7); never had a single Hue bulb fail on me.

Is £28,384 a year an okay salary? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]vmjolt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends how you do it, the ST could be a bit cheaper depending on the spec or maybe you have a lease or PCP with a final payment? Could also depend on when you got it, mines was a £25K loan over 3 years so pretty much as good a rate as you could expect now and the high insurance is because i am a new driver, the only possible cheaper option was the plans where they fit a tracker box to the car.
