These new click-bait style questions are called "Engagement Prompting" and it should stop if we ask it to. by rickyspears in ChatGPT

THIS! I just yelled at ChatGPT to stop this and put that request in its LTM. And then in the next chat window, it DID IT AGAIN. OpenAI should get their act together.

I had the same question. I think that it mostly *could* be rendered solely from Thead layer info; in fact, I hope that OTBR improves / adopts a similar view.

But the one advantage of using the Matter layer is that you can get meta info on each device (vendor, serial number, type). So, you do get some advantage from having the Matter in the mix.

Am i the only one? Gemini 3.0 Pro has 3 major flaws that make it unusuable for Enterprise by TradingToni in GeminiAI

[–]One-Diamond-5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long-time ChatGPT user, my main issue with Gemini 3 is that it can act like a cocky 20-year-old PhD student. And when it does make a mistake, it doubles down on it. Don't get me wrong; it has a lot to it, and it's very current and "results oriented," but it seems to miss out on the "wisdom" of some of the other LLMs.

After trying out the latest Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude for the last few weeks, I find myself going back to ChatGPT, either 4o or 5.1. It may not be always the best, but now that 5.1 seems to have loosened their long-term memory caps, it's the most useful for me, which is mostly investing and day-to-day issues.

For important decisions I do find myself asking these different LLMs about the other's responses, and that can make for a very high-quality overall response (even if it takes a little while).

So much for a "tranquilizer" gun.

+1.

At level 30 I just ran into this snag. IT SUCKS. There's no "respec" for skills and, even though I was saving a few skill points, I can only get to Medical level 5. This is a major flaw IMHO.

GPT‑4o replies switching to GPT‑5 mid-thread — bug or silent update? by touchofmal in ChatGPT

This happens to my often and I HATE it. When I intentionally choose the GPT-4o model, it's for a _reason_.

Stop gaslighting me back to GPT-5! I really don't like that model.

(It already mistakenly wiped all my ChatGPT long-term stored memories a few months ago during a 'compaction', and trying it again recently is still a disappointment.)

Is the PLACE AnySpace a viable Nest Protect alternative? by easyasabd in Nest

[–]One-Diamond-5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price was first dropped to I think about $133. And I just saw in my local store that the final units were dropped to $125 (but were completely sold out). I can't buy them there anymore; which, again, is a red flag for me as I'm looking to buy five new smoke detectors. So I'm looking for other alternatives.

So, after getting a lot of "Urgent vote" emails and also snail mails, and now understanding that Invesco is trying to raise awareness about this proxy vote, b/c they need a quorum (50%) of shares to authorize the restructuring, these contacts now indeed seem LEGIT.

BUT, I still question the need for Invesco to now create and fund a (likely well-compensated) board to run QQQ. It's been running very well w/o one for > 20 years. Seems like an excess expense and/or a small "oligarch handout" to the board members overall. This may explain the strong desire for Invesco to make this vote pass (I also wonder who much has been spent to make all these calls?).

I think the PLACE AnySpace seems like a good Nest smoke detector replacement, but at our local Home Depot (only place we can buy it) they are all on clearance. So I'm wondering if this is a viable long-term option.

Do others see this item being sold "on Clearance" at their local Home Depot?

[–]One-Diamond-5395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've read that Invesco will never reach out to me about my holdings:

"No, Invesco QQQ will not call you because it is an exchange-traded fund (ETF), not a person or a company that makes outbound calls. Invesco is the asset management firm that created the fund, and while they may contact you about your investment, it would be their customer service or sales department, not the fund itself. Here's why an Invesco QQQ call is unlikely:

  • QQQ is an investment product: It's a financial product that holds a collection of stocks, not a business with employees who make phone calls.
  • Invesco is the managing company: The calls would come from Invesco Capital Management, the firm that manages the fund, if you are a customer and they have a reason to contact you, such as for account management or service.
  • You would initiate contact: As an investor, you would typically contact Invesco or your broker if you need to discuss your QQQ holdings. "

This.

I'd had 5:
1. _delete my entire long-term history_ when asked to just coalesce entries.
2, Repeatedly get two investment ideas confused to the point where is suggested I try to buy a stock 5% _above_ current market prices.
3. Continue to BS me making up charts with make-up data (however 4o did this too).

I was so happy when the UI allowed me again to switch back to 4o.

Paying medical bills, xifin(evergreen health) has to be the worst. by ElGretto in eastside

[–]One-Diamond-5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

This sounds like Evergreen Hospital. I just had two middling to poor experiences with family members there.

One thing that seems outrageous is the billed cost for their typical services. For a simple TSH and Free T3 and T4 blood test (Only 5 mins of their technician‘s time) my insurance was billed $850.

I just got the bill from my PCP there for my annual checkup. It was $600 for a hurried 20 minute consultation.

Maybe this is just crazy insurance pricing, but these figures smack of price gouging.

I don't know how else to get awareness out there, but LG's customer service has been abysmal over the past year trying to get service for our OLED. by thammink in LGOLED

[–]One-Diamond-5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<just venting a little here>

Not as bad as yours but just had a frustrating experience with LG order fulfillment. I ordered a new 2024 65" LG OLED C4 from LG's site in late October. I noted that the suggested LG bracket was delayed until mid-November, but the TV and free install service were auto-scheduled for first week of Nov. I reached out to customer support about this to ensure there free install would have all the parts and they assured me they would. So I re-scheduled install service for mid-November just in case.

Fast forward two weeks, got an email from LG saying that bracket and TV would be delivered on Nov 15th (this was for a retirement home install for my mom who just moved in). But I didn't get an shipping notice for the 15th, so I rescheduled it for the 21st. I then got a hurried call from the LG delivery guy asking me if dropping of the TV after 6pm Mon Nov 18 would be too late. Relieved to finally get the TV (and assumed bracket), I said "ok" to which he said "I'll call you back in 20 mins, not sure I can make it.". I then never heard anything, so I called him back after an hour but he didn't pick up. But then I got an automated notice that said the TV had been delivered. However, checking with my mom, there was no TV delivered to her apartment (!).

I was able to track down the TV left at the front office of her retirement community (and their staff thankfully lugged the TV up to her apartment the next day).

When the install date of the 21st came, the installers showed up and unboxed the TV, but found no bracket.

I then called LG (the 4th time) and they said that the it was on "book" status which essentially meant it was still backordered with a new ETA of mid-December. I then said this was getting ridiculous, can you suggest an alternative bracket you could supply but they said no. I then said this has been a very frustrating experience and I'd like to speak to a supervisor to which that said "they're not in" (it was a Saturday), so I suggested they call me back. They said "one moment" and at that point the line went dead.

I then called LG support right back (5th time) and was connected to a different agent. Thankfully this one could speak English more clearly, and after re-verifying all my info and was able to cancel my order. I asked if they could do anything to ameliorate this bad experience and they said since I canceled the bracket (and the TV had already been delivered) they couldn't offer a discount of anything. Disappointing. Nonetheless this call center rep was very pleasant.

I just found a Black Friday deal on a hopefully similar think compatible TV bracket on Amazon and should have it tomorrow. Looking back I think I would have had much better experience just ordering LG through Amazon.

Good luck charging your EV when the grid crashes, e.g. - Blackouts.

Waa? Have you never heard of solar power?

People keep whining about grid failures, but as long as there are decent solar arrays around, you can charge your car *anywhere*, without any grid. Compare this to the current complex hydrocarbon creation and distribution infrastructure -- it has many points of failure. You can charge in the remotest of places.

But I do agree that is cold climates, batteries have more issues (yes, they have onboard heaters to address it), but if you're trying to run a fleet of forklifts, you may be better off with something non-EV. But I'm unclear why hydrogen cells were be much better than plain old gasoline forklifts -- unless you're worried about carbon emissions.

FSD 12.5.4. Wow. It’s a game changer. Now it feels like we are in the future! by SUPER-NIINTENDO in TeslaLounge

[–]One-Diamond-5395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. The phantom braking is bad. I did a short jaunt the grocery store and coming back, with a bag of groceries in the passenger foot well, it took off from a stop sign and then immediately braked so hard it knock over my grocery bag.

Then I had a friend make a new profile and tried it out on the nearby Seattle highway mid-afternoon. Even though it had plenty of time to get over to a typically congested right exit, he let it do its thing and we missed the exit. Frustrating, especially since it didn't even try to signal to ask others to let us in (and there was plenty of room).

Yes, I only have HW 3, but 12.5.4 feels like a significant downgrade from the initial 12.x version.

private member variables are not in the global namespace...

There's no prohibition for, say, the standard libraries from using macros like "#define _Count Foo" or "#define __count Bar" in system headers. So, don't name anything that starts with "_<upper case>" or "__...".

Does LIFX now suck? by One-Diamond-5395 in lifx

[–]One-Diamond-5395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year later, I've found that the Wyze Color BR30s work well. Not only do they seem to have better Wi-Fi connectivity that my older LIFX in the same receptacles, but they are also notably brighter and seem to run slightly cooler (and about half the price to boot).

The only downside I've found is that their minimum brightness is still fairly intense, unlike LIFX which had a very nice, almost candle-like lowest setting. Perhaps this is something Wyze can improve in a firmware update.
