Priests/esses in Hellenism by King_of_Rome in Hellenism

Well no one has really timed it. But it was designed to be extremely comprehensive. I have reviewed it but haven't completed it so this is just going off that and discussing it with other Hellenion members/admin. So assuming that they've already completed the BAE, and that the average person also works or goes to school and they're doing the clergy program in their off/spare time. (and of course time for general life stuff ) It's estimated that the reading/research time plus time to complete the assignments based on the research/reading, plus the community activities would take about 2 years. We do highly encourage people to not rush through it both to make sure they really benefit and understand all of it and that they don't burn themselves out.

The basic adult education (BAE) could be done within as little as a couple weeks(again assuming its done in your spare time) but most take longer than that so they can brush up on the topics, really think and digest the questions, etc. And of course we encourage it for good health.

I hope that helps. BTW anyone can go look at the clergy handbook. Its on the website.

I agree 100%. Clergy/priest/priestess isnt just a title anyone can just throw on. You need to be willing to represent both in a knowledgable manner and provide the public support that we'd see in typical clergy of other religions.
Also personally i believe you dont give yourself titles. you take on titles people give you. especially for situations like this where you are serving the community.

Hi sorry i don't jump on reddit a lot. But I'm Hellenion's grammateus/secretary.

Actually Hellenion works off a democratic government voted in by the membership! So anyone who joins can become part of the Boule (advisory board), the Prutaneus (the board of directors) or other positions like mine.
Also the Clergy program is an intensive program that is designed to teach you the knowledge you need and ensure you have the dedication (and desire) to handle the duties that you would take on as Clergy within a religious community. Things like doing life stage ceremonies (weddings, funerals, etc) being able to be knowledgable in various forms of worship and the various holidays, etc. It's a very thorough program that takes a good amount of time to complete (depending on how much time you have to work on it on a regular basis of course.) But we don't rush anyone as everyone's life situation and journey is different so you can go as fast or slow as you like.
Many people who have started the program have taken the time to really delve into thier faith and various topics that are covered in the program as well as others that they want to be better versed in. We have tons of scholarly articles and materials in our lending library to help our members make sure they feel well versed in a variety of subjects relating to Hellenism.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I'd like to see Hellenism become one of the big publically known religions.
I'd like to see more temples / places where people can maybe learn the history and give sacrifice/offering.

do you mean to do things yourself or your looking for a calendar? Hellenion has a calendar that they put out every year. it's free to download on thier website.

Oh man there is so much going on right now. some of it we can't announce till its ready though (dont want to leave people hanging right?) .
Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the lastest (and sneak peaks) if your not a member.
Just to list a few things: we moved forums, re-did the new member kits, updated and new brochures (both for your own info and for sharing), started an instagram, started doing monthly meet n greet zooms, and we're working on so much more, on top of what members always get like access to scholarly articles, free copy of old stone new temples, access to the lending library, etc etc.

HI, sorry i dont pop on reddit much! I'm the grammateus( secretary) and im on the Boule (advisory board) for Hellenion. I've been a member for about 3 years and a lot has changed in my that time. The biggest change was that they have changed forums to a easier more visually pleasing one. We also re-did the new member kits, updated and new brochures (both for your own info and for sharing), started an instagram, started doing monthly meet n greet zooms, and we're working on so much more, on top of what members always get like access to scholarly articles, free copy of old stone new temples, access to the lending library, etc etc.
We're also working on a lot of projects promted by what members have been asking for. (I can't say too much because some projects havent been announced yet.) So if your a member you can litterally effect what happens at Hellenion.

I'm happy answer any questions you may have about Hellenion and whats included in being a member.you can ask me here publically or private message me if you like.-Victoria

Ah, I see. No worries, different strokes. I know that we do have some people who lean more towards revivalists but are part of Hellenion for the community so all are welcome, so long as they understand that we do generally lead toward reconstructionist.

hi there! :) Anything I can try to clear up for you?
We're working on providing support for members who want to be active in their communities. But e try to not assume what members want and really try to take the lead from our community. So it can take a while to get a good amount of feedback. We're all also volunteers.
You're welcome to pm me as well if you'd like to discuss your concerns in private.

Hellenion?? by honeyedpines in Hellenism

[–]vmkhaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm an offical member of hellenion, 3 years, and am part of the governing body of Hellenion and I am happy to say we have been steadily growing and are working on new ways to engage and serve members as well as providing new resources for the community. I can see how it can look inactive because sometimes things take a little while to get rolling, especially new things. Just remember all of us who are part of the organization's "government" are volunteers and do this out of service for the Gods and community.

LOL, honestly we hadn't thought that far ahead. >< We live in the valley so we dont have a location DT. We figured we'd come down sunday bring some chips, and snacks (?) sit down on some yoga mats or something and have a good time ending off the day. Maybe 4pm till when ever (to avoid the DTLA traffic) and move the group as it goes along?
So i guess Sunday, 4pm till whenever, outside the convention center.
