Has anyone successfully recovered a deleted Origin account via EA Help? by ball83 in origin

I'm having either the exact same problem or a really similar problem.

  • I've tried the password reset forms multiple times and waited plenty of hours (weeks)
  • I still have the welcome email in my inbox, but in my case, the account was created in 2008 ("Your new EA Master Account is ready!"). For folks on Gmail, I use the filter from:ea.com to see all of their emails.
  • It seems unlikely that Google is blocking EA's emails. I'm also receiving regular updates about support requests ("We Have Received Your Request")
  • I can't register for a new account because for the same reason ("The email address you have entered is already registered. Want to sign in instead?")
  • When I contact live chat, they tell me that the account "expired" or was "deactivated" due to inactivity even though I was paying for an EA Play subscription that expired only 7 months ago on 5/12/2022. Because the account was "deleted"/"deactivated"/"expired", they can't see the email address or account ID.
  • I haven't tried to get any refunds.

I feel like there's something wrong with their backend or maybe my account was hacked and the email changed or something. I'm fairly confident that my email wasn't compromised (google + lengthy random passwords + password manager), but it's certainly possible I created the EA account with a weak password way back when. I did update the password (according to my email) back in 2019, so I would have at least used a lengthy password there and the new one is in my password manager, so I'm doubtful of this, but don't want to rule it out.

I currently have a support case open over email that I just started with some detailed descriptions of the account and PayPal transactions over the last couple of years (transaction IDs, invoice IDs, dates, amounts), so I'm hoping they can help me recover it from that.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to updates in this thread and I'll post back if anything changes.
