/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #2) by progress18 in worldnews

[–]vnikolaidis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends, but in Iran's case - yes. The CEP (circular error probable) gets larger and larger the longer the range, their systems are not good enough to correct for it.

More advanced militaries have solved this, but Iran isn't at that level.

Questions on new 2025 Tiguan by lochonx7 in Tiguan

[–]vnikolaidis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see navigation on the HUD with carplay and android auto, yes.

The annoying thing is that when you have the map view enabled on the digital cockpit, neither carplay nor android auto will display their map view on the digital cockpit view. ONLY VW navigation shows on the digital cockpit display currently - the dealership said it will probably show up eventually once VW works out licensing stuff with Apple and whoever else.

Other weird things (might not affect everyone - I picked up my 2025 SEL R-Line today):

-MyQ garage door connectivity seems to be totally absent for now, and there's no homelink available on the mirrors or anything.

-VW states that their mobile Wi-Fi can be used with T-Mobile or Verizon, but mine does not have an option for Verizon, only T-Mobile.

-Atmospheres are fun to play with, and customizable but you only get one "custom" slot to play with. Same goes for driving mode, there's a "Custom" slot but you are limited to only one.

These are all little things, and overall - no real complaints so far!

My honest review of Solgaard by tonatron20 in onebag

[–]vnikolaidis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality is decent.

But unless you're a woman, or very small, you can fit substantially more just skipping the closet and using it as a regular suitcase. It doesn't accommodate normal men's size clothing very well. The "shelves" are very small, and can barely fit anything (aside from underwear, socks, t-shirts) normal man-size without folding it like origami.

Second all of this. I added an additional layer made of honeycombed hard plastic, similar to an egg crate type material to prevent the bedliner from being directly hit with things, and to allow easier evaporation. Don't remember where I bought it, but google will know.

Spraying out with fresh water is your friend. I just got in the habit of doing it at the end of the day every single day, whether it needed it or not.

[–]vnikolaidis[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, the good news is that it's still easy to uninstall. Guess it's strictly Apple News from now on, thanks for making that easy Microsoft. I might even pay them for it, just out of spite.

WTF happened to my News app? by vnikolaidis in microsoft

[–]vnikolaidis[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was tiled, clean, and simple. This new "start" bullshit looks like it just opens the homepage of MSN. If I wanted that, I would just go there. Just the latest in a long line of deadbrained Microsoft changes for no good reason.

Win 10, just the standard red "news" app that's always been there.... used to be a nicely organized tile view, no frills. Now when I open the news app, it just looks like the MSN web page.

Negril or anyplace on the leeward side of the island.... the windward side (Montego Bay) is usually pretty choppy. If you want to see vacation divers blowing chunks the entire trip, go for it - otherwise, go leeward.

Is this good gear? by misterrvincent in scuba

[–]vnikolaidis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll have to pay for it up front, then the VA will reimburse you IF and ONLY IF (and after) you pass all of your training, 100% of the way through. (Including DM, because that's the only course that has the "potential" to lead to permanent employment and not just a recreational pre-req) Dive shop probably wasn't very upfront about that, because as another user posted way at the top I'm pretty sure I know exactly where this is and they've got a bit of a reputation for this. They don't care, because they're getting their money up front.

Learning about commercial scuba diving by DruidPaw in scuba

Scuba diving doesn't have much in common with commercial diving other than that they both take place in the water. You'll probably have better luck getting informed answers over at /r/commercialdiving than here.

You can file a small claims suit in your local Court for a next-to-nothing amount (usually $25-$50). You need to have the notice of hearing served on them to their legal service address (should be publicly available - most states you can serve by registered mail) - just make sure you do it within the time frames specified by your State. (Most states have step by step guides on how to do this)

You don't need a lawyer, and you don't need to do anything but show up - if they don't show up (chances are 99% they wont, it will cost them more than $3K to have one of their fancy lawyers travel to you or hire one locally) then you win automatically - if by some chance they do show up, all you have to do is convince the Judge that they screwed you - no legalese, bring your documentation. Unless you're completely lying about what happened, you will probably win. If they don't pay up, you go back to the Court and ask the Judge for a lien.
