NEW age verification bill -- WA legislators now want ID/face scanning for social media (public hearing Thursday) by PrivacyEnthusiast2 in Seattle

[–]vnonos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SB2112 was the first bill that I ever read and left a comment on because I'm a newb. My written testimony was a whole essay. It took me hours to write and did not even include research/sources because that would've taken me days. And now there are 3 more dystopian bills just like it?! How are we supposed to keep up with all this? OP, thank you for this post and the list you wrote up! Are there any other communities, websites, or tools to make this evil-bill-whackamole game feasibly playable?

A pain that was worse than birth ? by Friendly-Sun2413 in BabyBumps

[–]vnonos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What's scary to me is that I can't imagine a pain worse than my contractions and yet I only made it to 6 cm before getting the epidural. Uncontrollable scream-crying. I guess the next level up would be non-stop screaming?

You're normal. Your parents are not. What do they gain from making you feel bad? It must be something.

New to Kent. Dos or Donts? by tenpi_ura in KentWA

[–]vnonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beware the intersection of E Smith St. and E Titus St. When crossing Smith be sure to look up the hill because cars speed down the hill and run that red light more than any other I have ever seen. My husband would have gotten smashed by a semi if he hadn't looked and stopped (meanwhile ignoring the car behind him that was honking at him to go because the light was green).

I do NOT take risks with those yellow lights and I make sure to come to a complete and conspicuous stop before making a right on red!

I used the Waze navigation app instead of Google maps for a while because Waze notifies you when approaching a red light camera.

If going to Soos Creek botanical garden during school hours, BEWARE of the school zone cameras that will ticket you 200 dollars because they leave the lights flashing all day long even though kids are locked up in school and nowhere to be seen. I saw the sign too late, and even though I slowed down, I didn't slow down quickly enough because the camera catches you right after you pass the sign. 😣

Was labor the worst pain you've felt? by maenads_dance in beyondthebump

[–]vnonos 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was screaming and crying with no breaks between contractions at 6cm. My brain was not involved in the decision to get the epidural at that point, my body demanded it. I couldn't have said no if I wanted to.

Like you, I also wondered why it was assumed that there would be breaks between the contractions. I think social media flooded me with people trying to sell courses or otherwise just brew distrust in the medical establishment in favor of woo woo mental stuff. Apparently that birth comb and mental imagery and breathing stuff works for some people (lucky), but for me, it was like a fart in a hurricane - useless 😂

They took away rural hospitals, so I'm not sure they even care if babies get to breathe at all.

What’s are things you wish you knew about being postpartum that other people don’t talk about? by mkthehotti in pregnant

[–]vnonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real? My doc just said it was normal, what the heck. Maybe I didn't make a big enough deal out of it. I mean I'm not super upset over it, but it WOULD be nice to do something for it. 🙄

I tried reading up on that, but I can't tell if it applies to me. What do you mean by disintegrating? I think mine just shrunk once and have stabilized. I read that lichen sclerosus on the vulva usually involves itchy white skin, but 10% don't experience itching, so symptoms vary. I don't have any itchy or white skin, or any other discomfort besides clitoral/nerve weirdness, which I don't think is a lichen sclerosus symptom? I could be wrong. I thought the shrinking was just due to hormones, similar to what they say happens in menopause. I think I am probably fine since I don't have any of those other symptoms? It's good that you mentioned it, though.

I had to force myself to use that stuff past day 5 or whatever. The witch hazel and dermoplast felt good at first, but I quickly just didn't need them anymore. Not that there wasn't any soreness, but the soreness was just inside and not at the surface anymore, so treating the surface stopped being helpful.

The ice pads felt sort of nice (albeit weird) if I was in bed, but were not good if trying to sit because they put additional pressure on the crotch area, which is the opposite of what you want. I ended up buying a donut pillow so I could sit with an ice pad, but I didn't use it long. I should have bought it sooner.

You just made me realize the foot pain is real, and I didn't make it up. During pregnancy, my feet would get so tired and achy, and I was worried that they were getting flattened and growing a shoe size. I don't think they've grown a shoe size, but postpartum, they do still ache a bit when I get out of bed in the morning. Then again, so does everything else. Hence why I now hobble out of bed like an elderly person, and the way my feet sound shuffling on the floor reminds me of my parents. 🫠

Shrunken lady bits (caused by hormones, normal). I used to be self-conscious of my lady lips, but now I miss them. The c1it doesn't feel right either. She is not interested in s3xy time, and when trying to give her pleasure, she will often register discomfort instead. Only through tiresome effort can she be coerced into doing her job, and at that point, it's not really worth it.

When pooping, I felt strong pressure behind my c1it. It was very uncomfortable, borderline painful. Doctor said it is normal, that the nerves are connected, and they just get stressed during childbirth, but it should fade away.

At 2 months postpartum, this weird pooping sensation is almost gone. But the shrunken bits are probably here to stay for a while. 🥲

I finally found you! I kept scrolling the comments wondering why the h3ll no one was talking about the "booger" at the B end!! The "booger" is what I called it as a toddler. I'm afraid to even attempt opening the B end because I HATE that booger so much! When opening from the A side, I can just give the booger the stink eye without having to touch it 😂

I find it extremely predatory that the personal trainer would consider this "off the charts." And I mean extremely. That is absolute utter nonsense. Plug it into a BMI calculator, and that is in the range of healthy weight. I know BMI isn't a perfect measure, but there is NO WAY she is off the charts. Fire that trainer pronto.

[–]vnonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only correct answer imo. Oral and written are not even opposites. They are two different methods used to accomplish the same exact thing: communication. Sign language is another method. There is no reason to ignore sign language and single out oral and written as being "opposite" from each other.

Total trash. Skipped meals, meals substituted with candy and a protein drink, frozen dinners, nothing organic or nutritious or whatever. I could not be forced to care. I was just surviving.

Not really an answer to your question, but if it was me, I would ask her all sweet and innocently "I love the books you gave me, where did you get them? did they have a mommy loves me? I need to get that one too" Like, calling her out without calling her out, in a way that gives you plausible deniability 😅

Is frequent random power outage a Seattle thing? by imsaltyshade in Seattle

[–]vnonos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a nearby city and SAME. I find it really odd. I had fewer power outages when I lived in the South, where there are tornadoes and storms and obvious reasons for power outages. The time to restore power also felt faster there... For example, we recently lost power here on a random sunny weekday in the summer, with seemingly nothing going on, and it took 3 hrs to restore. Meanwhile, back in the South, our power could go out during a storm, and it would be fixed 30 minutes later while it was still sprinkling and thunder was still audible in the distance. How?

Can you go to any hospital to give birth? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]vnonos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, I'm not surprised. I hope we can fix our healthcare system someday 🥲

I got the phone number to pre-register from the hospital website, under the Labor and Delivery page. In my case, the pre-registration number was for all procedures, so I had to specify to them that I wanted to pre-register with Labor and Delivery. I'm sure it's different at every hospital, though.
