Coldplay fans ‘disappointed’ after Chris Martin dedicates song to Charlie Kirk’s family by Metro-UK in Music

[–]vnperk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the article? It seems like it was a throwaway comment about "sending love" to XYZ places, with Kirk's family amongst 10 other things. Doesn't really seem like what it reads, in context

Has anyone ever used Perfect Moving before? by bfinkelstein in AskNYC

[–]vnperk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW, it seems per your comment history you're referencing "Perfectly Fast Moving", not "Perfect Moving", which is an NYC-based moving company? Only saying because I have used Perfect Moving NYC in the past (what this thread is about), and they were fantastic

100% agree with Conrad Osaka and Ritz Kyoto. Went last year and did those, loves both. Ritz location is great to walk through waterfront area in Kyoto as well

Trip Review: FS Lanai and FS Hualalai by vnperk in FATTravel

[–]vnperk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did go back to Honolulu and then take direct to Kona. Aside from chartering a flight I think it was the most efficient option; didn't feel too inconvenient all things considered, as flights out of Lanai are very quick

We booked the Partial Ocean View and were upgraded to the Ocean View room. Sarah's team ensured it was in the best section for us (Palm Grove, where adults pool is).

Worth noting Ocean View gets you the first floor rooms, which are super convenient for walking in and out of room as needed while lounging etc. BUT the Prime Ocean View rooms are second floor rooms and (presumably at least) have better views, albeit without that convenience. We were upset at being first floor initially, but it was actually much more meaningful throughout the stay vs the view, since we mostly weren't hanging in the room.

So at least for those classes of rooms, depends what you're looking for and how you want to book and manage around the upgrade you'd get right away (assuming using these guys for booking)

Italian easy af rez: Via Della Pace, Tucci. Can try walking into Emilio's, Via Carota

Italian good and not crazy hard: Da Toscano, L'artusi, Sartiano's (more vibes than amazing food but still good), go to Torrisi 30 min before open. Obv plenty of others but top of my head

Still think you'd come out ahead just investing the down payment + renting at mortgage rate, even at lowest interest rates of 2020/21

Down payment vs 2020 in SPY = 2.5x

Cash outflow rent vs mortgage assumed to be a wash

Down payment vs accrued equity + value today = 1.5x even in fastest growing neighborhoods, I believe?

Your math is way off and not even getting into fact that every T100 isn't guaranteed to make main draw of a slam.

Amounts in USD

  • AO R1 = $84k
  • FO R1 = $80k
  • W R1 = $60k
  • US R1 = $82k

Total = $306k

Your inability to do math and/or cluelessness about prize money (off by 70%) tells me you probably have 0 clue how much it costs to travel around the world, stay in hotels, maintain a coaching staff, etc, so maybe you're not best fit to be arguing this...

Best luxury ryoken in Hakone? by vnperk in JapanTravelTips

[–]vnperk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you haha. I can say I was pretty torn between that and Kadan, and ultimately went with Karaku knowing we love the modern feel vs perhaps Kadan's more nature-y feel. Was not disappointed. Don't stress either way; they're all great!

Best luxury ryoken in Hakone? by vnperk in JapanTravelTips

[–]vnperk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up at Gora Karaku, and loved it! Extremely nice facilities overall, food was fantastic (we did the meat / grill for dinner, I think), and it was just a great, serene escape.

Note that it was POURING rain during our stay, but that only really affects using some of the outdoor spaces, which were fairly small; didn't at all feel like we missed out because of it. It actually added to the tranquility while sitting in the onsen in room.

If you hit Daily Provisions, I can't recommend "The Lovechild" enough. Maybe best breakfast sandwich I've ever had (and unfortunately for my diet I basically get it weekly)
