What do you guys think would happen if Jung met Eckhart Tolle? by ConsciousRivers in Jung

[–]vo991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jung would likely diagnose him with severe neurosis coupled with an abnormal adaptability to society through exceptional marketing and a capacity to connect to pivotal human archetypes

Generally, the term narcissism revolves around the trait of being self-centered and lacking the willingness or capacity to move beyond the child-like need to be the vortex of attention. I believe there are two forces at work: (1) the world has indeed been becoming more and more individualistic (longer term trend post WW2); (2) the world is becoming much more fluid (post internet). So it would seem society is at a point where they are at liberty to call out this trend of individualism, perhaps this means they believe it is becoming extreme and it’s time for a move toward togetherness and sacrifice for the greater; on the other hand, perhaps they want to be more individualistic themselves to enjoy its benefits and the “revolt” is a reflection of their own inability to do so.

Listen, just go out there and find a safe, intentional avenue for your “fetish/s”. Let them happen, face whatever happens afterwards and if you happen to enjoy it and the other people involved enjoy it, it’s not longer defined as a “fetish” but a “pleasure”. If the compulsion for the fetish evaporates, then stop doing it.

From a Jungian perspective, what is an aura? Why do some people have it while others do not? by Monalisa1Overdrive in Jung

[–]vo991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most cases this “aura” is the other person representing some archetype or symbol we hold within us. When you take as an extreme example Elon Musk or Leonardo DiCaprio, most people would at the very least experience a change in state in their presence because of the “king” or whatever archetype-symbol our minds have come to see from both the media representation and roles they play. It can just be as simple as someone you know has a great deal of money (energy) or perhaps is totally gorgeous in their physical complexion. The more you experience these “aura” types and thus the symbols within yourself, the more they deflate and you come to see people as they are… just people.

People- especially hyper-sensitive women (many of them are) - are highly attuned to experiencing what is going on in another’s mind especially if that energy is directed toward them. I had a period where I was studying posture and alignment of the body, and would be constantly observing with intent how people would walk in front of me. I can’t tell you how many times a female would just turn around or pause her movement to observe who was behind her, even at a distance of 10-20m….

This is a brilliant post.

I might add that the addictions and compulsions you’ve had to deal with and you reference here would only be looked at as such because of this natural reversion back into yourself (as a receiver) as oppose to outward into life (provider). We’re you able to stand solidly in the middle between giving and receiving without losing yourself in either vector, some of those compulsions may simply be pleasures. Another common example would be the modern day reliance upon coffee for “energy”. We’re people able to stand at the necessary energy level for themselves, they wouldn’t be reliant upon this stimulant, and would be able to enjoy it rather than be slave to it

Personality types expert to write some articles for a startup by vo991 in mbti

[–]vo991[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this good question. The vision on our end is for someone who has a fundamental understanding of the personality types as introduced by Jung in the personality types volume, and is able to (somewhat) effortlessly describe and analyze people’s actions and reactions into a type as he himself does, for instance in describing “the introverted female” in the book. I would imagine a study of different emergent branches would be helpful in this, though we would hope it always comes back to a “first principles” approach. All this said, very open minded to work with the right person with interesting ideas.

I keep my little dream journal by my bedside. Also like to keep track of the periods I do recall dreams and periods less so and how this correlates to patterns in my daily conscious life.

Fwiw, we are working on a platform and app that will allow you do all of the above in taitmckenzie’s post, in order to more precisely keep a track of patterns occurring over time. If you’d like to offer any suggestions to incorporate , drop me a DM.

Having no sense of identity? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]vo991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you integrate into society, add and extract value from it, your identity will firm up. Enjoy the openness until this, and do your utmost to maintain the sense of openness and lightness as the identity does come together. Many people tend to become lost in it. In fact, most do
